If he comes to Clemson how many guards is that? Would this not be the third guard transfer?

Jack Clark will likely play the SF position, but can also play as a Guard
Heidbreder is going to redshirt due to back surgery.

Good info. I guess he might be a good fit to replace Galloway then.

That's not a knock on Brevin at all. He is a good player that really helped us, but Girard is better.

Girard averaged 16pts per game along with shooting 38% from 3 in the ACC last year
Brevin averaged 11.2ppg along with shooting 33% from 3 last year.
Brevin was great for our team last year, but most people that pay attention to college basketball would agree that Joe Girard will likely be an upgrade.

If you want to respond to me you should address my actual comment - not just spout propaganda. JK has said, quite literally, over the last several years that every incoming player has been an upgrade. I’m wondering how we seem unable to improve if that was even partially true.

I would like to see proof of this, but yes brownell has recruited better players out of the portal than players he has had enter the portal.

Then he must be exceptionally bad at coaching if he constantly upgrades his players but performs to such a constantly low baseline. A squad that has improved in player quality for 13 years that still can’t make the tourney.

Put ‘em where you want. 5 guards on the floor is 5 guards on the floor. Yet somehow never with a true point guard. Brownell is a mastermind.

Brownell must be some sort of coaching genius considering our "fake" point guard averaged more assists per game than every PG for Clemson since Ed Scott.
How do you claim that you don't bash our players when you are saying that chase or Dillon hunter aren't "true point guards"

I’m bashing Brownell for having to play guys out of their natural positions because he can’t recruit worth a ####. Then, not getting his needs out of the portal, just getting more bodies to put wherever he wants.
How many recruited PGs have started for his team’s in 13 years? I’m not the one naming names.

Rod Hall came to Clemson as a shooting guard. Since that’s first on your list I’ll stop there.
“ Hall averaged more than 25 points per game as a shooting guard at Laney High. However, he never played as a pure point guard. Thus, initially, Grant was uncertain if Hall would fit into Brownell’s personnel plan.” - That’s because he has no personnel plan. He’s just takes the best he thinks he can get and tries to figure it out later. But he actually can’t plan around personnel so just makes everyone play out of position. 3 tourneys in 13 years says I’m right.

You know what, you are right. Rod hall was more of a shooting guard.
His 6'1 strong frame that loved getting to the rim and finish through contact was perfect for the shooting guard position. Add in the fact that he shot about 30% from 3 made him such a natural shooting guard.
no, rod hall was a PG and he was a good one at that.

“ How many recruited PGs have started for his team’s in 13 years? I’m not the one naming names.”
This is the question you responded to. The list you gave is almost half transfers or players who didn’t play PG in high school. You’re changing the argument. My argument is that Brownell can not recruit his needs which lengthens the learning curve for the player and limits their productivity. You have not proven otherwise. I don’t need to argue how good Rod Hall was as a PG. That isn’t the point. What we’ll never know is how good Clemson could have been had Rod Hall been able to play SG with an experienced, highly recruited PG running the offense. And it would be silly for you to dismiss the difference since Grant and Brownell had concern about his ability to handle the point.

I have to say viztiz is spot on here. The question wasn’t if rod hall was a good point guard. It’s why we had to make him one because we couldn’t recruit another. If we could get guys that play their natural position then maybe they would develop quicker and we wouldn’t have to wait 3 years for Rod Hall to be an adequate PG. viztiz is right

Lol, you don't want me to use transfers on the list, but you throw in the "has to have started" qualifier. Interesting.he also recruited Ty Hudson and Adonis filer who were point guards.
So I guess your biggest qualm is rod hall and chase hunter, and Clyde trapp for half a year. Other than those 3, we have had what you would call "natural PG's" every year. What a laughable thing to complain about.
All 3 were super athletic guards that could penetrate and create for others. All 3 didn't/don't have a great 3pt shot. All made great sense to play point guard.
Rod hall was a good pg for us. He gave us 3 solid years as a starter. If you watched his game and came away thinking he would have fit better as a SG I don't know what to tell you.
Clyde trapp excelled at pg way more to an he did as a SG for us
Chase Hunter just statistically had the best season as a PG for us since Ed Scott.

The point is what a poor recruiter Brad is. You’re going deep into the weeds to avoid that issue. Because it’s true.

He isn't a poor recruiter, but he hasn't been great. Nobody has ever said he was a great recruiter. Your original point was that he doesn't recruit or play natural point guards s that was dumb.

Looks like Clemson will land another transfer as LSU's backcourt proved to be a little too crowded.
