WR Draft

Look at the names of the WRs being drafted ahead of Ross. Nobody on the planet expected this after he destroyed Bama.
Really looking like a terrible decision for him to come out early. Needed a year to prove his health.

Well maybe he should have come back and played a full healthy season. These kids just see $$$$$ signs because they have everyone chirping in their ear. I know a former Clemson WR who was drafted in the top 3 rounds and didn’t pan out. Said if he could do it all over again he would have went back his senior year to work on his development.

Of course it would have mattered. His problem right now is that he did not look healthy and did not look confident last year. He was timid. That has knocked him (so far) completely out of the draft. He will be on a practice squad making pennies.
If he stayed at Clemson and had a good year, with no expenses, some NIL money potential, he could easily have moved into a draft-worthy WR.
He’s gained absolutely nothing by coming out early.

No he won’t. And it’s a grind…and no guarantee to stick on the squad. Free year here to showcase health and confidence was worth way way more. Maybe he got bad advice on his draft stock. Nobody comes out early if they know they will be drafted this late or UDFA.

no, we really could have used him this year with Randall being out. We are paper thin here with busts, transfers, and injuries. And the biggest knock on him was his health. He'll get a shot somewhere, he is too talented not to. My only argument against him is that he was not a first rounder by any stretch.

Even with a healthy season at Clemson. His neck would never look good to NFL teams.

Mike Williams says hello.
Mike Williams had DW4.
JR had a lackluster year with DJU5 and no guarantee that 2022 was going to be a better year.
Despite today's outcome, he probably made the right decision to go ahead and who knows...maybe him being an UDFA leads to a better situation (I certainly hope so)

Ross was terrible victim of circumstances

we all know what he was capable of. However, the neck issue & being out a year for that was strike 1 b/c it put distance in the hearts & minds of FB folks of what he's capable of. Strike 2 was playing still not @ 100% & playing out of his natural position b/c that casts doubt. Strike 3 was our offensive struggles b/c being so snakebit w/ injuries & inconsistent play didn't allow opportunities to get him back on track in any way.
We can all speculate 8 ways from Sunday, but like the bumper sticker says "**** happens". Ross isn't the 1st guy to declare early & not end up getting drafted, & he won't be the last, its nature of the beast. He's a national champion football player & if someone happens to give him a shot & he recaptures some of what made him special here, then I hope he can put in some good years in the league. However, he's on borrowed time thanks to the neck (pretty sure any athlete thats come back from a significant neck injury would vouch for that) & he wasn't going to have the window like others to go make the money at the next level. I just hope he's able to have an opportunity to string something together before he does have to ultimately give up playing the game for good.
