Dabo's approach to team building is old fashioned

So we should expect old fashioned results. In the 2010's when recruiting was all about an arms race of facilities if you got a player that didn't live up to their high rating you were stuck with him until you could get another high school player to come in year and hope he could take over the job. If you missed on the same position for multiple years it could doom you program for years.

Now holes can be filled proven talent, if you are willing to go get them. Dabo has electively decided not to do this, meaning any improvement will be slow and have to take place over years instead of one offseason like other teams can do.

One last thought on this, right now we are like GT running the triple option far after it was popular. It's not impossible for us to be successful but we sure are making it hard on ourselves.

We have the money. Clemson was 17 out of 131 in NIL funds available. We haven’t been super aggressive with it. How many loans did we take to upgrade everything? Zero. Private donations. We aren’t poor little ole Clemson’s everyone claims. We have the money. Time to start spending. It’s the new arms race. Evolve or die. The slow death since 2021 has been painful. At least DJ competed against UGA. Jawga could have scored again. And again. And again. They just scored again.
