Looking forward to Tiger baseball returning to where it once was. My only concern is whether the assistant coaches will feel undermined in their roles by Leggett's presence and authority.

forget who is in charge of things now. I could be way wrong, but I can't see this turning out well, considering how tightly wound Leggett is.

In the interview with him a month back he seemed very deferential to Coach B and willing to help however he can. The man loves Clemson and that goes a long way with me.

I don't disagree with you to often, but I have to now, but only bc I'm hoping that Jack will take his final opportunity to be included with the Tiger team, and he realizes that, and does what Bakich needs him to do, and that is to offer up his many years of experience he has witness over his years as a HC!!!

Good. Nature is healing. Coach Leggett is a Clemson legend. Glad we are getting back to the Wilhelm / Leggett brand of Clemson baseball.

Wilhelm was a legend. Jack is a fine coach. There is a difference. Jack's results with the coots on the Big Stage remove him from legend in my mind. Doesnt mean I dont admire him as a coach

My theory is that the Clemson baseball program began to decline under Leggett when he quit running full speed and diving into the players huddle before the games.

You are right Leggett not the coach or person that Wilhelm was. Seems like I remember something in the past about Leggett using Texas A & M job vacancy to enhance his contract (money). Maybe I’m wrong but but you can’t convince me that he is a Clemson Man. New coach probably wanted Leggett around to help with recruiting in South and I think that will help some just hope we don’t have to widen the doors to get Jack’s head thru the doorway.

I do think this has the potential to end up backfiring, but I believe that this also could be brilliant and very positive. Time will tell, for sure, but if Bakich can get the very best out of Leggett, this could be awesome for the program. Time will tell.

That’s so awesome, that’s a lot of wisdom on the team of coaches with a goal of being the best. I love the vision our baseball team is becoming quickly. I love the confidence an expectation to be great at baseball again!
Let’s go to the World Series & dominate Tigers!

There is no doubt that Jack's knowledge, and many years of experience will be a great help for Bakich, and the Tiger baseball team as a whole BUT, I think that Jack will have to completely flush any ideas that he could ever be a HC again at Clemson. If Jack can do that, his experience and knowledge of the game of college baseball could help Bakich to win a NC with our Tiger Baseball team, and I'm sure that Bakich is thinking the same thing by giving Jack a job to do within the team....

It’s not like they just hired an assistant who would love nothing more to do that to Clemson and Leggett.
If Bakich needs Leggett to hang around I’m not sure he’s the guy. I know it’s more for Leggett’s ego than anything but I don’t see how this will be beneficial at all.

Well, set aside how really upset Jack was when DRAD fired him, and see Jack as a person with a wealth of knowledge, and experience in college baseball within Jack, and if you will see past the anger Jack expressed when he was fired, you will then see a benefit within Jack. I don't know many that would have felt different than Jack did, just some that would have handled it differently!!!

To me this sounds more like an "advisory" role than an "assistant". If I felt like this was an out there every day, on the field role, then I might feel like conflict could be expected. I think things will be just fine, and I am excited about next year.

Jack Leggett knows a lot about baseball. If Bakich didn't think that Leggett would do a good job, and be enthusiastic about his role, he wouldn't have asked him to be part of the staff.
And to clarify - no, Bakich doesn't need Leggett to be on staff. He wants him to be.

Hopefully Dabo will realize how great and healing this is and will consider bringing back Coach West or Coach Hatfield to work with the new Passing Game Coordinator.
Plus it will be nice to see Coach Leggett knocking the new coach down to be 1st back to the huddle after lineups are exchanged

Comparing West/Hatfield to a coach that coached at Clemson for 23 years, won COY three times, and went to Omaha 6 times.
A better comparison would be Dabo bringing back Ford/Howard.

Unless JL has a change of heart this will end badly. He may love Clemson but not enough to respect the current HC by not interfering. As a model see Ford, Danny who also loved Clemson but had enough respect to stay in the shadows

A Clemson man would not hang around a job after being fired then whine about in the media. A Clemson man realizes things happen for a reason and moves on to something else instead of sulking.
JL was an employee of Clemson but not a Clemson man as there is a difference

I think it's a risk but I hope it works out as envisioned. I couldn't help but draw the parallel in my mind of bringing Chad Morris back to "help" with the offense and how that might work out

It's a gamble. If Leggett comes in and keeps quite when he doesn't agree with things then it may work. If he let's his ego take over there's going to be a problem. Bakich is doing this out of respect for his past accomplishments. He doesn't need Leggett 'S experience, he knows how to coach. Team chemistry can be very fickle, let's just hope this works out for all involved.

Glad to see coach Leggett back! Thought he got a bad deal when let go. I said at the time, who could you get that had the credentials that coach Leggett has? Nothing against Coach Lee, however, the best team he had was with Leggett's players. Good Luck coach Leggett and coach Bakich.
