Wilkins hit on Blackmon when he fumbled
Nov 14, 2017, 4:54 PM
|
|
In the endzone. Was that not targeting? He did not lower his head but hitting the QB in the head with anything is targeting is it not?

No but his helmet hit Blackmons right in the face. I have seen the call it for a hand hitting the QB in the face.

He didn't lead with the helmet or spear himself into him. He lifted his @$$ off the ground and sent him flying back 6 yards.

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-V

Wilkin's head was up and Blackmon was hit by Ferrell that would have been the reason it wasn't called.

Yes keeping his head up was a good thing but he still hit him high, helmet to helmet. It was a nasty shot. Nothing like the hit on Carter but Blackmon was defenseless.

I think Blackmon getting hit/pulled by Ferrell made it worse than it would have been, and I'm assuming the review people felt that way.
At least I feel that should be taken into account because a lot of helmet to helmet isn't just because of a defender and an offensive player, but rather multiple defenders, linemen falling/pushing, etc.

You talking about tre Lamar? I haven’t seen highlights describing what you said with Wilkins but I did with Lamar. That was head to chest and no head to head contact seen. Message was edited by: 12BravoCU09

The Lamar hit was iffy too. It does not have to be head to head to be targeting. He did lead with the crown. The play I am talking about is the strip sack in the end zone.

I am probably the biggest KB supporter on here but you wanna act like I am a coot. I said the Coots should be ahead of NC St because they have the same record and they beat them head to head and State has beat nobody and they are ranked so yes sc should he ranked. I am not a hater like most of yall.

I understand why you think they should but I think that if 2 teams have played head to head and have about the same quality of Ws that the winner of the head to head should be ranked higher. How does that not make since to you? Because it is south Carolina and you hate them?

I think the issue is that almost all (except for NC State) of the coots wins are literally against bottom teams in the SEC.
Florida, Mizzou, Tennesee, Vandy, and Arkansas are a combined 6-26 in conference play and they have losses to A&M and Kentucky which aren't anything to write home about.

last play of the game to beat tenn, who is quite frankly one of the worst teams in d1. and a miracle catch to beat la tech. a miracle to beat la tech. have they played better lately - yes. are they better than wake or state - absolutely not. not even close.

They beat State though. They controlled the game the whole time. Never were down and up 14 in the fourth. State had 2 turnovers and SC capitalized on them. Yes State out gained them on O but SC had a kick return and the TDs off turnovers takes away some yards from the O. If they played again I would take State but it would be close I believe. State played great against us but has not looked that good against other teams.

State's best Ws are against UL and BC. SCs best Ws are against NC St and Mizz.
Which is better?

FSU lacks quality character as a team.
Nov 14, 2017, 5:11 PM
|
|
FSU's leadership lacks the drive to control that team. Nothing has changed, Daddy Bowden was just as bad in that aspect. It almost looks like they are trying to get an invitation to join the SEC. I hope they take NCS with them. Right now both teams are overrated and dirty to the core.

I don't think it was but by the rules it could have been called. I have seen less called. Hitting a defenseless QB in the head with anything can be targeting it does not have to be the crown.

To help you understand the rule, leading with your face out is much less likely to get called as helmet to helmet contact as you're properly tackling and typically not putting the entire grunt force of the hit to the opposing players head. "Launching" or leading with the top of your helmet to hit a defenseless player, or spearing/launching into the helmet of an opposing would result in a penalty and for sure ejection if the review shows it is with bad intent or considered dirty after the review.

Did you click on the link to "Hang on..." See excerpt. What was the indicator for targeting?
No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)
Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:
Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet
