I stopped by Quantico this summer and went downtown to the Marine Shop where three soon to be 2nd Lts. were being fitted for uniforms and spent some time talking to them. If they are typical, and I think they were, the Marines do not have anything to worry about in the future. I was in their same shoes 55 short years ago. If you want to know how the government treats some of its most valuable fighting men, we were given a $500 allowance to buy $1000 worth of uniforms ….. while our pay was $383 a week.
