Guys please stop about the NC State coach slapping

Watsons shoulder pads. It's not like he punched him. He did apologize. It really wasn't that much. Doren will handle it internally.
You guys just want to crucify a guy for getting emotional . Yeah he overreacted but it's not enough to ruin his carreer over. Grow up.

Just asking. If a man slaps his wife but doesn't leave a mark is that okay?
Like Dabo told his team there are Child and ladies watching...

Slapping a football player on the pads is not violence. He didn't even move Watson.
If he hit him in the stomach or something I'd agree. It's not always a black and white issue.

So, you're saying if a teacher that just hit your child it's understandable because teachers are underplayed and have an emotional and difficult job? No way, it's understood, in today's PC environment, hitting isn't acceptable. In my opinion he needs to go.

You obviously haven't been in middle and high school classrooms. Some of the issues they deal with are way more delicate and emotional than hitting a football player on the sidelines. If you weren't an apologist for NC State you'd understand that no one should hit a player. It's more about the act than the severity. How hard of a punch does this guy need to throw for you to say too much? My take is hitting off of the sports field is inexcusable!

This guy was probably a big bad bully in high school, and played the part during his playing days and now in his coaching career. He needs to be taught a lesson he should have learned years ago.

Get over yourself. Yea, I never had any education past elementary school.
The fact that you are comparing government work to one of the most competitive jobs in the world is hilarious.
I would hope school teachers are better mediators and less intense than football coaches.

Agree 100%.
I don't think he shouldn't get in trouble. He definitely shouldn't be fired. If the HC wants to unload him at the end of the year it should be his choice.
That was nothing close to Woody Hayes. We look like a bunch of panty waists crying about it.

players, regardless of degree, then we have misplaced priorities.
As a former U.S. Army Officer, I lived in an environment in which each soldier was trained to do one thing: kill. Thus, I'm no wuss when it comes to men hitting men.
This was not horseplay; it was a disgruntled staff member taking a swing at another. Frankly, therefore, I'd have no problem with the NC State administration removing him from the sidelines...permanently and despite our staff's acceptance of his apology.

It was bad enough to ruin a guy over. Doren will punish him internally. He apologized. That's sufficient.

Here is the potential issue I see. Ok, granted the coach was "emotional" but what if Watson gets emotional too and reacts and responds in kind? A brawl results and players like Watson are ejected and suspended from rest of the game and maybe the FSU game. Unwarranted "emotional" action by a coach can change a team's season. I don't necessarily agree this is a firing offense and the sincere apologies are a step in the righ direction. Personal accountability would seem to warrant something more than an apology. Short suspension and charitable community service?

Exactly. The coach's act could have been the spark to trigger something much worse.

A flag would be fine but people are trying to crucify. That's too much. And they are using classroom analogies which are not contact sports settings. This wasn't that bad. No he shouldn't have and I'll guarantee you the Doren will deal with it. He did apologize. Watson suffered no real harm.
The mob mentality is sad. The coach made an impulse mistake that he will pay for. Not enough to lose a career over.

There is reality and there is sad truth. The reality is it was against Clemson and the media has a hard time liking us so they don't care, , and the reality is we can talk about nc state and how great they played yesterday but they are really one of the most non relevant programs in the college football landscape..So this isn't a story. So let's move on

Can you say Woodie Hayes? A much longer and better career ruined by a physical action against a player. College coaches must be in control of their emotions and reactions!

That kind of thing is excusable against your own players, but not against an opposing player on your sideline. He should at least be fined.

Anyone caught up in the moment in that fashion is not worthy of being a coach. Come on, he is supposed to be a teacher, a molder of character. He should be fired .
