getting that pesky Coastal division championship issue settled before the season even really gets started. Nothing like making sure that there's no season-long drama for a division title in a league that's so media-starved that the Big East is on the verge of out-gunning us for TV dollars for its multi-sport programs.

as we will with AU. Our reason is experience issues but they will be gameplanning to stop the option. Think that is a big adv for them to have that game as an opener

Or maybe Miami at Boston College, an out of division

throwback to the Big East days when those teams had a pulse. A little less extreme than featuring Duke but you get the point. Scheduling potential division-deciding league games on an opening weekend, even in September like they've done with us and FSU, is a little like spilling the candy in the lobby. But considering the league's outstanding ratings and national following why not continue the strategy.

better. There's a lot of people that actually hate Miami on a national scene and would tune in to watch them lose, good for ratings. Plus the cheating aspect gives the league a little SEC swagger don't you think?
That game is ABC's late Saturday afternoon broadcast anyway so it won't lack for exposure as it is.

You're forgetting one irrefutable fact: we PWN algroh. Been destroying his defenses for over 10 years.

GT had them beat last year in Atlanta. Unti their stupid linebacker decided to punch Logan Thomas in the head. Do you people not realize that VT only has 3, let me repeat that THREE starters returning on their offense. VT will finish 7-5 the season, and they open the season with a loss in this game......

That's just crazy talk. VT hasn't lost 5 games since I don't remember when. 1997? 1992? The four new OL starters are more athletic than the guys who graduated last year and they all have experience in games as we rotated them through games all last year. Our new wide receivers aren't all that new. Coles, Davis and Roberts all have significant playing time experience and each has shown his own hint of greatness awaiting the opportunity to shine.
And when was the last time VT didn't have a running back? Darren Evans, Ryan Williams and David Wilson all had fantastic freshman years and Holmes won't be any different. The Hokie defense last year said, on more than one occasion, that the best running back on the team was wearing a red-shirt... That was Holmes.
The offense is going to be fine.
And even if it weren't, Bud Foster is poised to field possibly his best defense since 1999. VT could very well have the best defense in the country. There is NO WAY that defense is going to allow Tech to lose 5 games.

It will struggle. But I also don't think VT wins fewer than 10 games. At this point with their streak, that's what is to be expected.
