Why not spend that cash on something that holds value, like a nice Ford truck or something.

Is there a such thing as a nice Ford truck? Maybe. 1960’s aren’t bad. They are all driving Mercedes in the plural. Nate Wiggins had a couple thanks to NIL. They are beyond ford truck money.

Might should invest that money now. In 40 years, it'll be worth millions

Although I’m not a jewelry fan, my guess is the bling will hold a lot more value than a vehicle over time.
The wise choice would be to invest the money in a low cost index fund, but that ain’t cool to the young fellas…

Stale news cycle with a bye week. They have to fill the sports pages with something. I reckon. Not my choice to wear such gaudy jewelry. But to each their own.

Never understood why players wear a huge necklace during the game, must be afraid someone will steal it if they take it off.

Good for them. They are able to make their own money now and spend it on what they like.

"Wearing jewelry is a sign of prestige. It is a staple for professional athletes and musicians, like former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, singer Usher and rapper Travis Scott, to showcase their success and notoriety."
just for the generation gap folks that don't understand the players and generation on the field

All of that bling doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t have a mouthful of gold grill. You can then put probably 10-12 numbers or characters on your teeth. And years ago….they didn’t like to see “The Little Rascals” on TV because it made them look funny and stupid. 😂

Bob's Steak and Chop. Google for more info. They've probably expanded to other places by now.
One thing they used to do and maybe still do, is plop a huge, useless glazed carrot down next to the star of the show, which for me was always a really great Ribeye.
Gaudy necklaces = useless glazed carrot.

I'm not saying it's anything I would ever do (partially because I hate things around my neck) but if the guys are making NIL money on top of a free ride, then some lavish spending is to be expected. As long as they are staying within their budget, setting some aside for later, etc then let them spend some on something that makes them "feel" swaggy and show some personality. I think we all probably make some splurge purchases every now and then. Heck, sometimes I even open up the wallet and buy a Nike or Antigua Clemson shirt instead of a Colosseum one.

Bling takes on a lot of strange forms depending on what culture it is one desires to impress.
In SC the dominant form of bling for the majority is a very large pick up truck.
A bit more upscale bling is the 8000 Sq foot house.
Teslas are the bling of choice for more than a few cultures.
I think a nice gold necklace is fairly low key bling in most circles.

Geez, big yawner here. When we were their age we blew money on all kinds of stupid things. Let them enjoy their youth. They have plenty of time to learn to be responsible with their money as they go through life, just like we did.
