I watched the game yesterday. Clemson was in complete control. I was never concerned about the outcome. But, I also gotta tell you I was not aware, until I saw the half time stats, just how successful Citadel's rushing game was. I kept looking at the score and saw 0 for The Citadel. Then I looked at the box score at half. Almost 200 yards rushing.
I'm not panicking and calling for anyone's head, just saying it causes me far more concern about the defensive side of the ball than it has for the past two years at least.
On the positive side, great job by the offense, specifically Matt Luke. The guy did wonders with a patch work line protecting the QB. I know it was The Citadel, but the game plan and execution of the entire offense was great, IMHO.

Bret, I am the same way. I do not ever recall sitting at halftime of a game where the opponent was shut out, yet be so frustrated and concerned with the defense. It was really weird. I told someone at the half that if Rocket Sanders was running against us today, he would have 300 yards all by his lonesome. I have never seen so many players out of position in one game and still hold the opponent at bay. Craziness! I don't know how we can outscore the Coots in a shootout, but I believe we will have to because if today was any indication, we might never see the ball until receiving a kickoff.

And I have seen enough and have already called for Wes’ head. I don’t want him gone because I feel he has a unique skill set but, Clemson needs someone else on the headset at game time. Dabo had Elliott/Scott before so why not xxxx/Goodwin?

triple option takes work to prepare for. I don't think we spent a ton of time on it last week. Woodaz will be back and we likely come out in a traditional 4-3 like at VT and dare them to beat us throwing the ball. Chickens are good, but my biggest concern is TO's and special teams.

I agree. We've got our biggest regular season game coming next week, how much time was spent preparing for The Citadel? If I'm mistsken here then we really are in trouble.

Special Teams is my biggest concern next week. I too believe we will be in the 4-3.
All I want for Christmas is Dabo to hire a PROVEN Special Teams coach.

Have to stop both the running of Rocket and Their QB. They use him a lot in the run game from what I’ve witnessed. Beamer will try to pull some Beamer ball including trickery. They have gone for on 4th down a ton on their own side of the field.

I said pretty much the same thing. We are going to have to score a lot of points to win next week. I am just not convinced that we can stop the coot offense consistently. Hope I am wrong.

I’m not worried BRET , Venables is coming back to coach the defense for just this week. I think Wes G is gone or should be gone. Silver lining after SC beats us, Is maybe Dabo will make several coaching changes 🐅

I have no confidence in Goodwin fixing our defense. He has had all season to do that and we still can't stop the run. Not looking forward to the coot game.

I agree with you. We are thin at DL and LB, and a little beat up. If Mickens can't go, we'll be weak on the back end as well. It's going to be another BYOG game.
