Goodwin has done NOTHING to warrant being fired

He has had to field a defense with one of the worst offenses in football sticking his D in horrible spots for two years now. The fact he did what he has under that is amazing.

He can’t make in game adjustments. Got absolutely out coached in the 3 losses this season and couldn’t make adjustments to stop the bleeding. Turnovers killed us, but there was too much talent on the Defense to have that kind of year defensively.

Well according to David Hood on the Tiger Net podcast, he said he sat next to multiple NFL scouts at the Orange Bowl who all told him that they are “most impressed with our LB’s. They said the LB’s are the best coached group on the field & they love what Goodwin has done as DC”

I believe he is on notice. Let's see how that works out. Remember Dabo had some success, when he first started. But he had to make some tough decisions and fires/hires to get the program to where it is today. So maybe the same thing will happen with Goodwin. Get teh best guys around you, make the best decisions and let's roll. If not, he knows how could could end a year from now.

The most disappointing part of our Defense was the physicality of our DLine. I had no problem with the scheme. I saw our DLine get blown off the ball. Never was I worried about the run game before this past year. Now a good running team would concern me.

I’m with you. It appears, amongst other things, there was some self preservation going on with some on the defense. Not stating this as fact, but that’s what seems to have happened and even Dabo hinted at it as well when talking about Murphy.

The mighty Nick Saban hired a relative unknown Pete Golding from UTSA as a defensive assistant in 2017 and promoted him to DC in 2019. He struggled in 2019, but then helped win the national championship in 2020. So, you know, what's the diff? When we win the title next year, I'll get back with you.

On top of that, for any other defensive woes, out of the Power 5 teams we had the sixth highest stop-rate in the country this season. 1. Iowa, 2. Michigan, 3. Illinois, 4. Penn State, 5. Georgia, 6. Clemson.

Not yet, I'd give him 3 years at least. First year wasn't terrible, had some injuries we had to overcome to key players and was on the field alot from the inept offense. Just needs to get better at in-game adjustments and hopefully he learned a lot from his first season. Maybe we'll start dialing up more blitzes as well.
