Saying, posters NiKE & FRANCIS MARION respectively researched & posted these two stunning percentages of Dabo “with” & “without” some of Clemson’s best CFP Assistant Coaches.
Dabo With Brett Venables; 89.4% in wins. Dabo WithOUT BVenables: 71% in wins.
Dabo with Tony Elliott. 89% in wins. Dabo WithOUT TElliott: 74% in wins.,
These figures are uncanny and stunningly even..and show Dabo needs smart assistants as does any leader of a major program or organization.
Coach “is” a leader, visionary, CEO, organizer, recruiter, salesman, front man & good field coach, etc but he needs that help from astute associates/assistants and it appears he has not found “all” those needed to excel again simply based on his current lower % of wins last 3-5 years..but he’s not too far off to doubt his ability to hit another home run, or better a Grand Slam.
Hey Dabo, would you please come to our office for a chat! LOL~

Correlates more to the talent on the field than the coaches.***

is to be given an award for hiring such amazing assistants, even ones who were not proven. Keep up the good work!

Those assistants did not stay long, at least the positions that 5hey occupied when shown the door.
Three years max for 7nder performing assistant coaches. The uninvited ones are traditionally shown the door approx mid-January.
Who among our existing coaches is an under-performer after 3 years on the job?

I think BV, Elliot, and Dabo are better together. BV is not exactly tearing it up in Okie and Elliot will soon be out of a job as well I’m afraid.
Good coordinators don’t always equate to good head coaches.

BV isn’t coming back, even if he gets canned at OK.
You realize that, of course.

He will bide his time in one job or another until K State comes calling, but I don’t ever see him coaching here again. People are delusional and generally want what they can’t have.

Having a Rum or two while out shag dancing was a part of the evening of having fun..
But Never stocked alcohol or beer at home but did have an occasional bottle of wine for the Lady..and sadly haven’t shag danced in 10 years so rarely a Rum drink now..
So please refrain from calling me a Rummy but you may critique my opinion in a fairer way.
TIA!

Ultimately - Dabo is the One Who Built the Program

Of course, assistants matter - and each of those former assistants was important. But Clemson was ascending under Dabo even before he hired any of them. Then each of those assistants excelled with Dabo at the helm.
Ultimately, Dabo is the one who built the program.

Like:
“Quality” of players recruited during & after BV, TE & Jeff and others left.
“Recruiting” abilities of those 3 coaches vs current coaches.
“Development” of current players vs 5-10 yrs ago.
“Involvement” of NIL & Portal.
Etc~

Wise people would say, compare draft picks during those years and you will easily see that recruiting is the problem, not coaching.

With Dabo Two national titles and seven CF playoff, 10 ACC championships. Without Dabo Zero national championship over 35 year span Zero ACC championships Zero 10 win seasons. I will take Sabo way all day. I have lived through both.

Clemson football all time winning percentage 62.5% Clemson football winning percentage with Dabo 79.8%
The 62.5% is higher as well due to Dabo's winning percentage being included. I like Dabo.

Dabo never has been or will be a great x&Os coach. He was a great recruiter that brought in 5 star studs. Unfortunately that’s no longer the case…our current class is ranked around 35 with a bunch of 3 star diamonds in the rough. Now that he can’t recruit elite players we are not at an elite level anymore. You can easily see that from his results over the last 5 years. Just stating facts🤷♂️

I couldn’t disagree more. Dabo is a fantastic Xs and Os coach. Don’t let the Aw shucks Maam act fool you. It’s the oldest trick in the book.
Only knock I would consider fair against him is he loses track of time management at times which is really frustrating, someone on staff should have that matrix memorized and be feeding the coordinators/Dabo time management advice during situational football.
I would hear out the argument that he overvalues loyalty from a wins perspective, but I don’t give that much weight since this sport was not intended be a professional league. But that’s out the window now, I guess.
