Around 1.2 million for his 3rd place finish. If Shane Lowrey hadn't of birded 18, Glover would have finished T2 and won 2.2 million which is a difference of a million bucks. Glover won A little over 2 million all last year so off to a pretty good 2025.

From the standpoints of:
Competing against the course and no refs.
Injuries overall not brutal or game/life ending.
$ are top notch for the top 5–10 finishers and decent for the next dozen or so, plus they can personally choose to sit out the next venue.
Oh, get to wear pretty clothes & caps. LOL~

Outside of the top players who have sponsor contracts that pay for travel, the huge majority of players have to pay their caddie, pay travel and hotel for themselves and caddie, and of course taxes. Of course the reason many golfers live in Florida is no state tax but IRS bill is huge. Don't misunderstand me, many golfers make a ton of money from tournament winnings and sponsors but it is not all profit.

Well, Florida is warm enough so they can keep their swings in tune all year. Florida has no state taxes but I believe all pro athletes get taxed by the states where they earn money. So they all have to file multiple state tax returns regardless of where they live. I think.

Most pro golf and tennis players struggle to make a good living.
Yes, the top at both sports have it made.
Golf is certainly "easier" than tennis but that means there is more competition to be the best as well.

Actually had Lowry not birdied 18 it would have been a 3-way tied for second and Glover would have made $333k more, not $1 mil.

Talk about delivering on a money putt. That was a $700,000 stroke for Lowry there at the end for that birdie. Tournaments are front-loaded and getting 2nd all to himself was huge leaving the others to 3rd and 4th splits.

Well not actually. California will tax him at the 13.3% rate on income over 1million made in their state. Cali will get almost 200,000 of it. Still a good payday but robbery if you ask me.
