Gas grill question for the board

I currently have a gas grill that has burner issues. I know from talking to others that my burners are going bad and I have to either replace them or replace the grill. I can't find the owners manual so I can't get burner replacements for no cost. So I have to either pay for the replacements or buy another gas grill. Here are my questions for the board:
1. Have you replaced burners and how difficult is it to do so?
2. Have you ever put a cover on your burners to eliminate drippings from ruining the burners?
3. If you had to purchase a gas grill which one would you choose?
Please do not recommend a pellet grill because I am not purchasing one at this time. Thanks for any help you provide!

Just my two cents...
Depends how much you cook and how thorough you clean up the drippings after grilling.
I have looked at various gas grills at the big box stores and it seems they change burner configurations as often as cell phones. If you want to buy a mid range grill for a few hundred bucks, it would probably be best to change out grills every three-four years.
I bought an old charbroil grill at an auction 10 years ago.. It had been used twice and I bought the gas bottle with it... All for $50.
It has four in-line cylinder burners. I replaced them 3X with a generic from walmart ($6ea.)
I get sheet metal scraps from an HVAC guy I know and cut/bend the covers... They were about 16" long by 3" wide, 45 degree bend half way to fit.
It has been easy to fix because of the design.... The other configs I have seen I would not want to tackle.
The grill sits out in the elements without cover. The bottom has finally rusted out, so I will likely shop for a new one soon.

Always cooked on charcoal and wood. Won a sales contest at work years ago and they gave me a nice gas grill, worth $300-400 at that time. Only thing I used it for was to keep meat warm that was smoked over the coals. Another good use for a gas grill is when you have guests over that smoke, could double as an ashtray.

I was afraid I would miss the gas grill after getting my Blackstone almost 2 yrs ago but haven’t lit the thing since. I also have a stick burner for pork butts and briskets but it could double as a charcoal grill if I wanted

I cook with charcoal mostly but have a Napoleon gas grill and love it. Expensive but I'd purchase again. It has a sear burner, a rotisserie and yes the burner guards they call flavorizor bars or something like that (so they can charge more).

Best grill I ever bought. I keep it covered and stored in the garage when not in use. In my experience, leaving it outside, whether it's covered or not, exacerbates the burner deterioration issue.
I have replaced the burners on other grills. While it can be a little aggravating, it's really not that difficult. Depending upon the manufacturer, you can take off the old ones, walk into Lowe's or Home Depot with them, and find suitable replacements.

the deck but covered. Just had to replace the metal triangles over the burners. So for the burner question mine are covered so only minimal flaming issues.
Have replaced burners before. Not a big deal.
If you know your grill manufacturer and model, you can find the manual online with a parts diagram. Easy to order parts from ereplacement parts or someone like that.

Pro Tip: Just get the Char Griller Double Play. You'll never want anything else and you'll have the advantage of both gas and/or charcoal options. I've used this grill for years and have never had one issue other than having to replace the heat shields, which I found for $9 on amazon.

Your grill should have a plate or sticker on the frame with the manufacturer and model number on it. It's easy to replace the burners on gas grills. When I used to own Charbroil grills years ago, I had to replace the burners every 2 - 3 years. I finally bought a Weber grill about 9 - 10 years ago and haven't had to replace a thing other than a battery for the igniter. Heats evenly with no cold/hot spots. Weber grills cost more than Charbroil, but last a lot longer without having to replace parts. Well worth the money imo.

I have done a lot of grilling and I just bought the best grill I have ever had. Fuego is the name and they make 4 different sizes. 2 are round in shape and smaller and the 2 bigger ones are rectangle. I bought the smaller round one because it is just my wife and I now. An excellent grill. It is a little pricey and is the only thing good to come out of California.

This summer will be 11 years with a Weber grill. I had to replace the igniter a couple years ago. Still working great.

Wait...the igniters have batteries?? I thought they just failed every year or two!

1) In MOST grilles, it is not difficult to replace the burners, at least in theory. In actuality, the difficulty will come when you have to grind away the old screws or bolts, because they SHIRLEY will be rusted solid and immovable. (If they were stainless, your burners probably would have been as well.)
2) I have never seen a grille that DIDN'T have shields sitting above the burners to protect them, and cut down on fire flareups.
3) Weber. They are expensive, but worth it. I went through probably a half dozen varying brands, even a Kenmore one that claimed to be stainless steel. (The cabinet doors were, the rest, not so much, it was actually the object of a Class Action Lawsuit, I got $125 credit out of it.) All rusted away in a couple of years. (To be fair, only that Sears debacle one claimed to be stainless steel.) The Weber I bought (ALL stainless) still looks like brand new 2+ years in. And, the burners produce a far more even flame than the others. It even has WiFi capability (which I have never used) so that if you are really a Geek-Techno, you can observe your grille / meat internal temperature via computer. One caveat, the Weber is VERY heavily built, and is not a 2 minute picnic to assemble out of the box. But, it cooks great, and will outlast me, probably.

You can buy an aftermarket burner kit for most grills for $50 to $70 and they'll last 3 to 5 years.
The burners aren't hard to replace.
It's up to you whether it's better to buy a new grill or spend that.
I rebuild my grill (burners/grates/sometimes knobs) every few years.

Sorry if I'm late but like another said. If you can find the manufacturer and model number then check their website for parts and manuals. Once you have part numbers then check other websites for after market compatible parts.
The Charbroil website was helpful to me.

You're going to continue having problems. Just put it on the side of the road and get a Weber kettle charcoal grill. Problem solved and better tasting food.
