I may be wrong, but believe that the reports of serious injury were initial and unconfirmed. Later report seemed to indicate that he was only being held overnight for observation. Hope that is the case.

Watkins not the driver....
FOREST CITY, North Carolina — Clemson sophomore defensive tackle Carlos Watkins was taken to a hospital for observation after he was a passenger in a car wreck that killed another man.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says the 19-year-old Watkins and another man were passengers in a Dodge Durango being driven by a third man.
On Saturday night, troopers say the driver lost control while making a left turn, slid off the road and into an electrical pole. The pole snapped, and live power lines fell on top of the SUV.
Troopers say 21-year-old Dache Gossett was ejected and died at the scene. Authorities said Watkins was hospitalized overnight for observation and didn't appear to have serious injuries.
The driver was not injured. Authorities are still investigating.

Just got a call, and was told Carlos is doing pretty good, had a little fluid on his lungs but is going home today. Thank GOD for answered Prayers

I'm a Gamecock fan, but I never want to see any young man on any team get hurt. I'm sorry for the loss of life and sorry for your player's injuries. I am glad they he's going to be ok physically. I know the death of his friend will hit him mentally.
Did the news mention how many other people were in the car? Who was driving?
