This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play a whole football game on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.

I'm no turf management grad so someone is going to correct me and I'll defer to them.
If memory serves me correct, the practice of painting the entire end zone started 10-15 years ago but wasn't done until mid/late October because if it were done in September, the grass would be dead before the season was done. Now, I've stopped paying attention to the field paint for the last few years so I don't know if that's still the case.

The Paw and the lettering on the endzone is basically painted dirt after a couple of games.
The grass under the lines however seem to be ok.
