As a Military Member this is awesome. To know the school I love is taking care of one of my brothers in arms and giving him the chance to live his dream. Thats amazing! I pray Rodriguez is able to make a huge impact not only on the field but off the field. Good Luck Brother

workouts, I would get the team together and have DR tell his story. I'm sure the guys already know it, and he's probably getting a little tired of telling it, but I don't think there is any better motivation to kick off this season than DR. I would challenge every player to "outwork" Daniel on and off the field. I hope his work ethic and dedication spread throughout this team. If anybody were to exemplify Dabo's philosophy of "All In" and "One Team, One Dream", it is this young man. VT might get Fuller, but I'm ### glad we got Rodriguez.

Awesome story. I also love the idea of 23 year old freshmen who are work out fiends joining the team.
I bet there plenty one and two star linemen who wouldnt get a NCAA D1 look at age 17 who are monsters at age 23.
That has been one of the keys for Brigham Young - a bunch of 20+ year old freshmen returning from mission years.

I respectfully disagree. I want to talk about DR, the football player. Rodriguez is a 23 or 24 year old grown man. His work outs and pull ups were really impressive. Would he win the intrasquad pullup contest, and is that a useful skill for the athlete positions? The Tigernet recruiting profile credits him with a 4.5 second 40.
I also wonder how his workouts will jibe with the oft criticized Tiger strength program. He certainly works hard at the non standard exercises (as opposed to standard bench press). I am skeptical of the step running in the gas mask, though (Never heard of purposeful restrictions on air intake for aerobic training. This is not the same thing as training at high altitude)
Out of high school he was not a D1 caliber athlete. He is 5'7". His advantages of age and strength may make him competitive with the scholarship db's.
Hopefully, he will surprise like 5' 7", Danny Woodhead, who starts for the Patriots. Of course, Woodhead ran sub 4.4 times in the NFL combine.

I believe I read earlier that he will be a walk-on, not on scholarship. His tuition should be covered by GI bill, so he doesnt need a scholarship.
So maybe only scholarship recruits are listed.
