First 2 Drives

Putting together a playbook for the Clemson offense against Syracuse.
First 11 plays of the game so far.
-DJ is still overthrowing critical back shoulder designs. -Ajou completely missing blocks. -Elliott runs DJs 3 favorite receivers deep on 3rd and long. Nothing over the middle. -Ross drops a wide-open pass. -Taisun package includes DJ at WR hinting at an obvious run. -Bockhorst is told to pull to the right but play is a counter to the left and causing the NT to go free.

- DJ is still overthrowing the receivers especially on touch passes. - All of WR's including Ajou need a lot of work on blocking. - DJ's third down target is very predictable. He tends to focus almost exclusively on Ross - On the Taisun package, if he hands the ball to Pace, it goes for a huge gain if not a TD. - Why is the OL being asked to pull? They have enough trouble blocking the defender directly in front of them.

confused, blocking no one.
How can one defender scoot through 3 blockers for a negative gain on a screen pass. I mean, we had it set up perfectly and whiff...

+1 for the Taisun Package observation, I also saw the huge hole Pace had. Would have been running to the house.
I don't blame him though, if you only get one or none snaps per game you're prone to want to make the most of it. I would have kept it too. And that is also why I would not be the QB very long.

I agree that if you don't get much playing time, you likely want to take it yourself in the RPO.
I'm not sure I understand many of Elliott's "one and done" plays or packages or whatever.
He wants to create a Taisun Package...ok then let's see it more than 1 time on the first drive and then never again.
Same with the jet sweep. He did it twice in 1 drive versus Boston College. And we never see it again.
We saw them go under center 3 times...then you never see it for the rest of the game.
Just an observation here. I have no idea why or why not.

Run something that works for a nice chunk play then never see it run again for the rest of the game.

It looks like he is reading the DE 93, who crashes. So, he made the right call on the unblocked man. It looks to me that McFadden didn’t get up to the LB and he made the tackle.
The back side did seem to be blocked pretty well(Putnam got on the linebacker) and Pace may have beaten 93 to the hole, because he got hung up slightly on McFadden.

**** 2nd & 10 at CLEM 37 D.J. Uiagalelei pass complete to Davis Allen for a loss of 2 yards to the Clem 35 - 3 man front with a LB in the B gap (4 rushers) - C11 misses block on S11, S11 blows up play. - C84 stumbles after catch, maybe would have regained his balance. Pass is good, in stride chest high, in stride. - C8 (?) misses block downfield
