What is Chanello's? New? When I was there (mind you, 15 years ago), the choices were Peppino's, Todaro's, Columbo's, or the major chains. They were all varying degrees of terrible, but I'm from Philly so I probably have too-high expectations for pizza Todaro's was at least run by some NJ guys who did things mostly right, just not quite the same as it tastes up here!

Chanello's will always be the gold standard of Clemson pizza

RIP. They were right beside Knickerbocker's for many years, and served up thousands upon thousands of drunken hungry students on their way to/from the downtown bars.
I still am not sure how they had an oven large enough to make their party size pizzas.

The reasons why they taste different in Clemson compared to Philly or NJ, its most likely bc in Clemson, the ingredients are MUCH fresher and wholesome than that stuff they get up north.

Surely it should be from a local pizza place, and if they need help with supplying that many pizza's, let them contract other pizza places to help them out. I don't think that there is a pizza place in SC that could provide/deliver that many pizza's and have them ready to eat within a couple of hours out of the Oven. And more than 2 hours out the Oven for me, they become Hog feed after that!!! I would make the trip from cootlumbia to DV that day even if there wasn't any offer of pizza. Just Tiger Nation coming together for a celebration would be more than good enough for me!!!

Pretty sure Papa John's has the contract for athletic events at Clemson, but the Clemson store's oven can't crank out more than a couple hundred pies an hour.

It will be interesting to find out the Guiness world record for the world's largest pizza party. We might be able to make something even more special than thought even possible.

Surely you wouldn't want a gamecock handling anything that you're going to eat. If you do, that white stuff you see in it, it's chicken chit!!!

Dabo knows how to get media attention and exposure, but...

in reality, this might not even be possible logistically.
Let's just say that only 80% of the targeting 80,000 people show up and one is only allowed one slice. You'll need 8,000 pizzas. If it takes, say, an average of 5 minutes per pizza (with pipelining), you'll need 40,000 minutes or roughly 28 days for one pizza place to do it. Of course, you can have all pizza places to work this out, but that's still a tons of pizza to deliver.
Either way, this pizza party has to happen, even if only 1,000 pizzas will be given away. Otherwise, it's gonna be a bad press on Dabo.

No most big places have conveyor ovens. You can put 2 side by side and end to end. If you had say 20 pizza places doing it in about 5 hours you can get 20-30,000 pizzas easy. That would be enough for 2 pieces each plus extra. That is very doable if you ever ate pizza at freedom weekend aloft those were several hours old and kept in hot box.

I can't believe we are having a national freak out over an offhand comment made by a coach trying to keep his players heads in the game after they just had 40+ points laid on them by a very NCSU team and were rewarded for it with the schools first #1 ranking in a generation. He does not want them reading their press this week.
Also, he never used the word "free." Granted, if they are in the playoffs, he could afford it and it would be awesome.
If it does happen, it will definitely be Papa Johns. It might be pepperoni, but it probably won't be that fancy. I suspect the concessions at Death Valley could probably handle it. Somebody on this board has to have volunteered at concessions during a game, though...what's the scoop?
