and Iowa, but they were 10-2 in the regular season with some nice wins as mentioned above. I think it's really easy to put too much stock into bowl games and their translation to the following season, but completely dismantling NW was a nice win for Tenn.

What about UT's sorry defense ? Remember ...they couldn't stop most SEC offenses ...which we all know are less than stellar across the board .

It wasn't a good defense, but it wasn't horrible either.

Their special teams efficiency was excellent which led to pretty big field position advantages and that helps to mask a pretty mediocre defense. Pretty much the exact opposite of Clemson last season where our defense was typically very good, but were routinely put into bad situations via poor kickoff coverage and inferior net punting (our putrid return game didn't help this either).
