Tigers to face best 2-6 team Swinney has seen

While playing a 2-6 Louisville team might not be the most appealing game of the season, especially for students who are on Fall Break, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney hopes to see a full student section at noon on Saturday. Full Story »

Is think the first team that has a losing record we have faced (at the time of the game)?

Nevermind, we played Georgia Tech... but they are "Good Tech" now.

That being said, only Furman is sub .500 and they still have some winnable conference games to go...

Fall break?

What is that? I don't remember this from undergrad.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

So do they have classes on Friday and then off Mon & Tues?***

Dabo's being overly respectful. The Cards have beaten Indiana State and Western Kentucky. Their best lost came against the team we just pummeled last week. Come on man.

If we play our best game (that is to say...if we play as well as we're capable of playing), we will hang 100 on Louisville by accident.

I love the focus

Humble with a focus, that's all you need! Well, maybe some iced tea!

We need to find someone who can interpret Dabo's comments into his realistic thoughts. Of course, you *have* to be complimentary, but honesty would at least be funny.

"Well, this Louisville is bad. Real bad, as in, Furman is probably the only team we have faced who is worse. Their defense is anemic, giving up ridiculous yardage to a Wake Forest team that would have a hard time competing at the FCS level. Their QB continuously makes awful decisions, and their coach has a very tenuous grasp on the concept of morality.

All in all, we will likely struggle to keep the game at a respectable level. I'm already toying with a strategy of playing our best guys, yet not scoring an amount that would be too embarrassing to their program. You'll likely see Chase Brice sometime early-mid 3 quarter, and you'll likely see multiple attempts to my kid towards the end of the game."

- Dabo (probably)

Louisville has given us fits in the past, and they obviously have a a bunch of those big Northeastern clod-stompers. Forget their record, we'll get their very best shot. And if we don't come to play, it could be very embarrassing for us. On any given Saturday----

Ok, to me our OL has not yet proven itself. Thank god, Trevor has an extremely quick release. Weeks ago, I expressed my concern about our OL. I've seen very little to alleviate these concerns. I hope that I am wrong, because against a team like Alabama this will kill us. I remember reading an article at some point in the past, that we are not able to recruit top offensive linemen. If so, why not?? Not saying I'm right.

So few elite OLs and every team is after them.
Hardest position to fill, each and every year.
Need 3-4 every year but that's almost impossible to get.
We take 3-4 stars and hope they develop into the quality OLs that you need to compete at this level.
Injuries and a miss along the way will hurt.

I wonder why Ross looked so slow/conservative on that crossing

Oct 30, 2018, 3:22 PM

route vs Fla St. That hamstring makes sense now.

Hope we can feature our other guys this weekend and have him full strength down the stretch.

Are you sure Danny Ford didn't stand in for Dabo today?

Oct 30, 2018, 3:25 PM

That was vintage Danny. If he had worked in just one "I hope our youngsters are up to the challenge" I would know for sure it was him.

Swinney is joking, right? I mean, seriously joking. Right? The best 2-4 team he ever saw? And then recounts their strengths.

Reality check. Georgia Tech scored 66 points on Louisville, scoring on every possession. That would be 66, as in route ...
