Some of you are just miserable humans

We dropped 41 points in two and a half quarters on a team that held us to 14 last year. A team that also upgraded their defense with a myriad of transfers who came to play and has Chip Long and Chris Weinke coaching a pretty good QB.
First quarter and a half was rough for sure. We had no rhythm and Techs pressure had us off balance. Then we found ourselves. All three phases of the game were clicking.
How many bad balls did DJ throw? I saw one. A sidearmed swing pass he threw in the grass. He had four completions over 20 yards downfield and threw some NFL balls, the best being the route to Allen on the sideline. He hasn’t completed four 20+ yard balls down the field since Notre Dame.
Our receivers? Pedestrian at best. They don’t win 50/50 balls against good size corners. Tech had big corners (one was 6’3) and our guys disappeared. We don’t body other peoples DBs and DJ is throwing the ball right at our guys and we can’t catch it. Where is our Mike Williams? Where is our Tee? Is the guy Adam RaAntonio Williams is the dude though. More of him please.
DJ has drastically improved mechanically. When he has time, I see quiet feet and a calm demeanor. Good arm mechanics and a quick enough release. Are we forgetting his jittery feet and balls sailing all over the field and passes thrown short and long sideline to sideline? Hardly ANY of that last night.
Cade is different and probably will be a better quarterback over time. No doubt. He’s also a smaller guy that may take a pounding on the run game. I want him to play more but am fine with him taking it slow.
Lighten up Tiger fans… this game was a HUGE improvement over last years effort against this same team.
We are going to be good this year. Very. Very. Good.

We know coots impersonate Clemson fans bc that’s all they have, but it’s really sad when folks, who even claim to have graduated from Clemson, are so overly critical and cynical. They need to remember why they’re watching the game in the first place.

I agree with most of what you say but those first five drives, led by DJ, were hard to watch. He looked slow, indecisive and pretty much resembled the 2021 version of DJ He did play MUCH better is the second half. On the other hand, CK, looked like the better QB. He was completing passes to Swinney(!); surely DJ had better receivers to work with then Swinney although he did make a couple of very nice catches.

I have to admit that I was pretty miserable throughout the first quarter and most of the second. If that makes me a miserable human being then so be it!

Here we go again with the Pollyannas versus the “miserable”. It seems to me that we need to stop fighting amongst each other but at the same time we can all say that DJ struggles more than any quarterback we’ve seen in a long time regardless of how you feel about it. Nobody wishes DJ harm but I’m not gonna say he is an elite quarterback until he looks like one !

Let's not forget that CK was going up against Techs 2's and 3's. Ours are way better and it was definitely a mismatch. Won't argue he had great decision making and better looking throws but he also didn't have that pass rush DJ dealt with all night. Let's let this play out and let's be true fans and support every and all Tigers giving everything on that field.

Oh, I am supporting DJ. But the first five drives were miserable; just stating what I saw. DJ's confidence rose after the underhand shovel pass; he was a different QB after that.

Great post. I think you are right about Cade probably being the better QB eventually but the coaches just need to worry about who the better QB is right now. I see no reason to say that isn't DJ.

So, what? Wanting Clemson to play to their potential is being a miserable human being now? I have to assume your post is directed to those that are not enamored with DJ. Did DJ throw some nice balls last night? Yes. Did his receivers drop some that were right in their hands? Yes. Is he improved from last year? To some extent, yes. Did his body of work show you that, yes, THIS is THE guy to lead Clemson's offense? No. Sorry, it didnt. He is improved but I just dont see a guy that can enable Clemson to be their best version of themselves. I saw that in Cade. Say what you want about just one possession, garbage time, GT was tired/didnt care, etc etc. It was just different with Cade; smooth, effortless, confident, energetic. So I guess throw me in the miserable human being pile! LOL

We have seen DJ since he was a freshman. He is slow. Very slow. Indecisive. No quickness. No agility. He looked the same last night as last year despite no longer having any injuries and having lost 30 pounds. Nothing has changed.
You clearly don’t know a #### thing about football. Our offense requires the quarterback be a threat when running the ball. He is not a threat to run the ball. Their defense was not concerned that he was running the ball and focused on the running back in the backfield the entire game.
We cannot win a championship with DJ at QB. It’s that simple. I would take Kelly Bryant 1000 times over DJ. You people are so blind.

Should we be miserable for having concerns of how some players played or how plays were played out in the game? No. It is okay to highlight and detail concerns, then provide constructive ideas how to improve? Yes.
There are players and aspects that need improvement. Those improvements will not be noticeable against Furman and Louisiana State in lopsided games. They will need to be noticeable against Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Boston College, Florida State, and Syracuse.

The fun is in the winning, remember when our coach said that and it worked because it’s true. We as fans have spent collective millions on travel to those wins on the big stage and maybe it does make us miserable to know what we have now won’t be costing us any travel dollars. Maybe we should look at the bright side and be happy we don’t need to waste money on those rooms and tickets come January.

but I guess you're right. Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it and will seek help. But back to the game... yes, DJ has improved some. As in "a little bit". He still seemed tentative in the pocket, was seemingly slow on many reads, and failed to see open receivers at times. One of the TV commentators made a comment - "the receiver was so open he was doing jumping jacks to try to get DJ's attention" or something similar. So he is still struggling sometimes to make quick reads, see the whole field, and get the ball out quickly to open receivers. In my miserable human being opinion.
Yes, I understand Cade came in at mop-up time and the GaT defense was probably worn down. But he's an 18 year old kid whose last game was in high school. And you gotta admit... he looked cool, calm, and collected out there. I thought he looked very comfortable on the field, and was not nervous nor rattled. He made quick decisions and some nice throws. How would he do against a Bama or UGA defense? I have no clue, but for right now, he seems to be the real deal. In my miserable human being opinion, of course.
