you want to get the first game over and done, in case the June afternoon thunderstorms roll in and you find yourself playing either at 1am Friday, or even worse - 10am Saturday morning dealing with a Doubleheader.

I like it. Playing early, the Tigers don't have to think about who they play next if they win or lose. Before they go to bed they'll know who it is and they have time to scout them.
