another fumble in the backfield at any point over the rest of the year. Never happen. Or that Mafah will fumble inside the 5 again. Nope, nada.
You just need to put your big boy pants on son....

Defense played great only giving up 375 yards. Passing game and pass protection was spot on as well as protection on FG's. Duke's gonna win a lot of games. Nothing to see or learn here. Just a fluke - move on to the Criminoles with supreme confidence knowing there are no holes and we improved greatly against Florida Atlantic. And pass the Kool Aid on down - I need another shot.

But yeah, a lot to ignore. A lot of see-no-evil required to think we are going to win this one. But here's to ever hoping.

What happens if………..
1. Our fumbled handoff at the goal line DOES NOT bounce up 2 feet off the ground so it that it can be returned 85-90 Yds? Was that a lucky bounce?
2. The fumble we recovered does not dribble along the ground, 2 inches off the ground, allowing our guy to be immediately tackled? Was that an unlucky bounce?
3. The Duke QB is sacked, instead of scrambling 50yds, or whatever it was, for a TD? Does he get sacked there, 9 times out of 10?
I’m over it. We didn’t deserve to win, but we didn’t get any breaks either and Duke got a lot of breaks. I was reminded of the UGA game in 82. We beat their butts up and down the field that night, but turned the ball over 4 times and lost by a similar kind of score.
Windshield mentality, can’t change the past.

Everytime I rewatch a game, any fame, I look at repeatable plays vs non repeatable plays. Of course anything can happen during a game, bit for example, in our first NC game when Saban kicked the onside kick, I told myself ok, Nick freaking Saban is having to kick an onside kick to steal a possession from us for a reason. If we play ten times, do they recover that kick 10 times? No. Evaluating how good teams are IMO comes down to repeatable plays.
That Duke game makes me feel better, not worse. It was a quick game that went by fast, we fumbled twice inside the 10, and one got returned basically down to the goal line. It was gifted, not earned. Or Rileys scramble. Barret Carter had him tackled in the backfield, he got out, and just so happened to have the entire right side of the field open because the WRs had run the DBs off the line. Rileys a great runner for his size. Deceptively fast, but play ten times and that doesn't happen. You know what does happen? All those first downs. Drives. Running the football.
People are also forgetting the trash touchdown at the end. I didn't like how Clemson kinda folded, but the game was over.
Rewatching makes me irritated about the result, and the result counts, regardless, but moving forward it makes me happy because I realize it wasn't lack of talent or offensive playcalling or something I've lost faith in. Imagine that same result because Dukes offensive line bullied Clemson and they ran it down our throats. Doesn't feel the same then, does it? Because that is repeatable. We played good football, just had absolutely critical errors. Any team that has those isn't going to do well against a good team. If FSU does that against Duke, they'll get beat too. Duke isn't BC. Gotta show up every Saturday and take care of the football.
