He’s not wrong. I dont mind stormin the court because none of our kids would EVER say anything off color or antagonistic to an opposing player. Need to find a way to storm the court but avoid unnecessary risks of fights, injuries, etc.

Lot of this sentiment has to do with that Duke Power Forward Filipowski was hurt in the court storming at Wake Forest last season. Link:

Well, it is. Specifically the fans that ran directly at the Duke players and bench.

Not going to lie. I thought about that in the last minute of the game and was kind of concerned about the older people that sit on that front row at court side. Watching we said that some of them could get knocked down and trampled.
It's only a matter of time before the ACC votes in the steep fines for court storming and rushing the field just like the SEC and B1G.

Well it is don't you think, so is rushing out on the FB field. But once that many fans are determined to go out there to be with their team, there's not much that can be done to stop them other than look at the video and start issuing warants against all that can be recognized!!!

This is true but some of it is the schools responsibility too. It is all hands on deck with the stadium personnel at other schools with putting on those green/ yellow vests and surrounding the perimeter of the field.
The rules that were originally set up for "Gathering at the Paw" are not followed by fans or enforced. I remember specifically a few of them were fans were supposed to enter the field in the hill area only (not jumping over the sideline walls) and they were supposed to wait until after the visiting team exited the field. We can't even keep Coot fans off our field that spank the paw with their belts or bring a chicken on it to #### on the paw all while taking pics and videos. Why can't we control what happens at OUR stadium?

I understand his point and think he said it well. Just watching on TV it seemed like security did a good job shielding his team as they left the court, but I did not see the initial rush. I guess our security staff needs to determine a method of protecting opposing players at the buzzer.

IMO it looked like they needed a few more.
As pointed out in my post above I wish we had done better a few months ago keeping the coot fans off the field that spanked the paw with their belts and let a chicken do it's business on the paw. Totally unprepared.

.... I don't know how to solve the problem. I have some ideas, but none are viable.
Sourt storming should be a celebration, like Meeting at the Paw. It should not be to run up to the opposing team and taunting them.
So, here are my unreasonable suggestions.
1. Have security armed with tasers. Any fan who gets within 5 feet of the opposing players bench gets tasered.
2. Have security prepared to have a rope where they can form a lane for the opposing team to exit the arean. Anybody who crossed the rope is tased.
3. Allow the fans to storm the court only on the half of the court with the home team's bench. (The students would learn they have to get on that side of midcourt to storm it.) Have security and a rope at half court. Anybody who crossed the line is tased.
Like I said, unreasonable.

The biggest issue is that fans are already running onto the court as the clock

hits 0. In this game the clock briefly stopped with 0.3 seconds left, but was then run again to hit 0 - after hundreds of fans had already run out onto the floor. Imagine if this had still been a 1-possession game... they would've had to remove hundreds of fans to play the final 0.3.
Anyway, my main point here is that there's no time to set up anything because the fans are out onto the floor so quickly. The players don't even have time to move, much less get to their bench or to their locker room. Anything that's going to be done has to be done AFTER hundreds of fans are on the court.

Is court storming more dangerous than burning all the benches on your own campus?

I’m probably on board with Jon Sheyer on this. I knew they were gonna do it and I was just hoping that the few knuckleheads wouldn’t go get in their faces….. which of course they did. If you can’t do it in a celebratory way instead of a confrontational way then you just shouldn’t do it bc it’s bad sportsmanship and honestly you don’t belong on the court. None of the players and none of the coaches like it. I feel like it’s in the way out

Add a secondary clock that starts as soon as the game clock expires. Put 2-3 minutes on it. Then sound the buzzer when it hits 0. Then fans are allowed. The opponent can leave the floor during that time. It's a rule, so people are going to complain, but it didn't look good for Clemson.
