that they can never be critical of anything Trump says or does?
I mean, the election is over. Trump won. I'm not seeing any reasonable person disputing that at this point.
But now instead of being able to honestly discuss policy, I'm seeing more Trump voters who are interested in doing a touchdown dance in the face of the left than trying to instill any sense of unity among the people they talk to. Lose with dignity/Win with grace? Nah, screw all that. It's more about making as many people on the losing side feel like #### as you possibly can.
Maybe you've just become accustomed, just as members of the left have, to immediately get defensive when anyone suggests a mistake by your guy?
I don't know, but it would sure be nice to get past all the hate-fueled comments and actually be able to have a political discussion without that immediate defense mechanism kicking in.

For me, I treat this as our COUNTRY'S decision, one I'm willing to work with to see how we can do this as best as we all can.
You seem more bent on spreading hate and incivility. Would you prefer to just kill everyone who didn't vote for Trump, Tom?
And I ask again, are you capable of objectively criticizing political policy, or does it always have to be predicated on knowing which way the other person voted first?
Are you so self conscious about your stance that you can't muster any strength to talk about it critically and objectively?

The extremist language on both sides is tired and boring. I'm over it.
I'll keep doing my best to have reasonable conversations with the several Trump voters on here who ARE actually capable of having rational conversations without letting emotion get the best of them. I might not always be successful, but ffs, it's better than coming to every conversation ready to hate.

And pretend the scum of the earth--the same people who cheered Asheville's destruction--weren't spouting off the most hateful rhetoric toward anyone who criticized Trump.
You're an absolute imbecile if you didn't recognize that.
Trumpism is a brand of filth and hate; he pushes it and it attracts people who embrace it. It's not Republican and it's not conservative.

There's a distinct difference between a Trumpkin and someone who simply pushes a button for Trump in the booth.

Here's a headline from the FoxFakeNews station in Houston:
"Houston community on edge as serial rapist remains at large, according to HPD"
I didn't know TheRump was in Texas. But we all did know he is rather large in TheRump. But, per his #### star sex partner, he's rather small in the appendage that's usually hidden.
Now that 26 women have accused him of sexual assaults and/or rape. (The last one was 17 at the time of the assault.) The TV station must have meant Trump.
Normally, the President-elect of the US should be above this type of message. But TheRump said Kamala Harris was a prostitute during his rally, and we know there's no proof of that. He's the one that's a convicted sexual criminal. And he's a convicted felon for hiding money to keep hia affair with the #### star quick. (Most people don't know he tried to silence his #### star again in September. (He's obviously very stupid, too!l)
So, are you cultists most proud of his conviction as a felon or his conviction as a rapist???? (Asking for a friend.)

Don’t worry.
I give Trump until Feb 20, when he will declare that this is the best economy since WWII (or III, if he misses his medicine). It will be exactly the same statistically, but somehow different because he is now president. You and the other followers will take a pause from whatever disgusting things you do behind closed doors with baby oil, peanut butter, and domestic animals, and celebrate the economic miracle.

Suddenly claiming to care about character in the White House. HW probably had a hand in the JFK assassination and the attempt on Reagan. Clinton was a rapist and sexual predator. Bush and Cheney were profiteering war criminals.
I didn’t vote for a preacher I voted for a leader who can hopefully undo the massive damage the unholy alliance of neocons and leftists have done to this country via unfettered illegal immigration, unnecessary foreign wars and the inflation of the bureaucracy.

You mentioned Trump voters doing a “touchdown dance”. It would be nice if we can come together and shake hands on the field after the game. Hope that happens. But here’s a little human nature. If for 4 quarters a team screams across the field “Nazi, racist, uneducated, deplorable, garbage, killer of democracy, haters of women, etc etc” human nature would be to do at least a brief touchdown dance after a winning touchdown. So, you’ll have to excuse the now majority of Americans who breathe a little and maybe even celebrate. But now it’s time to go to work and put the country back in the right path. I’m doing that the cooperation needs to come from the left. Will that happen? Not looking good so far. But as Trump said “success will bring unity”. I’m hoping for success for all of us.

You've got a flawed approach to the topic, for starters, because you make the blanket assumption that all Trump voters look alike, think alike, even vote down ballot alike.
If you're watching the mainstream media, or following influencers on X, or reading legacy pub opinion writers, I'd encourage you to stop doing that, because *they're making the same blanket assumptions about Trump voters.
I did not vote for Mr. Trump because he's a gentleman or a statesment. He is neither of those things. He can be very unlikable and petty. He has a puncher's mentality -- he loves to spar.
He absolutely makes outrageous claims that send the fact checkers scurrying off to prove him wrong.
Why do you think he does that? He knows if they're checking him on some random soundbite, they're not checking him on policy.
I voted for he and Vance because, in no particular order, they've promised to curb illegal immigration, by enforcing the laws already on the books. They've promised to get aggressive on tariffs as a way of paying for the tax cuts he wants to get through, and most importantly, revive the executive power to sequester the budget.
I don't care if he gets in pi**ing matches with Rosie O'Donnell on X, or if he heckles journalists in press conferences, or calls political opponents nasty names, or belittles foreign leaders.
When I was a journo, Ted Cruz once called me out as "the enemy in our midst" in a room full of GOP donors. The goofball -- I had voted FOR HIM in the primary.
I laughed because I know pols will say just about anything to fire up their base. We need to all remember that.
This is a rather shallow discourse, but, I hope it makes you feel better about Trump voters.

It doesn't because they miss the giant flaw with Trump. He is a danger to democracy. He has repeatedly mentioned wanting to be president forever, praised dictators, tried to overthrow an election and stole government documents.
That's a non-starter no matter what else he has done.

Who wouldn't want to be the most powerful man
Nov 12, 2024, 10:30 AM
|
|
in the world, forever? I know of few who freely surrender power once gained. Thankfully, we have a Constitution that expressly limits someone to eight years in the oval office.
Who can forget Clinton's farewell address after his second term, for crying out loud. The man clearly HATED the idea of having to give power over to Bush. But, the people had spoken.
Dictators: Off the top of my head, FDR recognized the legitimacy of the Soviet Union/Stalin, a dictator. A bloody one at that. Because there was much, much more in play than optics. Imagine how that would go over today.
Jan. 6: I can't defend his lack of action that day. I wish he had told them in no uncertain terms to go home. And many have suffered and are suffering the consequences of their actions. I knew guys down here in Greenville who were gonna grab their ARs and tech gear and head to the Capitol. Goof balls.
I won't say Trump tried to overthrow an election. I think he tried to call into question the results of the election, and created some real problems for the transfer of power. And really flubbed it on Jan. 6.
We'll see if he pardons the lawbreakers. That will be a huge blemish if he does, and send the wrong message.
Government documents: I don't know what Trump actually did. I know what he was accused of doing in the now-dismissed case.
One that bothers me: I do have real concerns over how presidential immunity will color not only the Trump presidency, but, future presidencies, insomuch as I understand presidential immunity.

White supremacist Nazi garbage?
Why would you expect people who have been slandered as such to turn around and be gracious winners immediately?
I personally have few problems with what Trump has said or how he’s governed, though how he expresses himself often leaves him exposed to easy clips for misinformation purposes (the Liz Cheney execution lie being the most recent example). His appointments in the past have been an unmitigated disaster for actually accomplishing his goals and I suspect his mandate will be gone by 2026 as he aims too high and is likely to fail to accomplish his goals to varying extents. I also don’t feel he’s yet set up the infrastructure to continue his agenda past 2028 even if republicans hold office we are likely to slide back to the false choice between neocon globalists and leftist globalists eager to sell the US out for power and money. Maybe he will be more successful than I think and eventually set that path but he will have to do so in the face of a deluge of negative propaganda and with nearly half the country already hating him and discounting anything he might say or do regardless of how positive it is.

Because he has already done irredeemable things: you can't try to subvert democracy and then say well he might do positive things. He didn't bring anything positive and he's a real danger.
You absolutely can and should discount someone like that for office.

His platform is full of things I agree with. Protecting free speech while Harris and her fellow dems called for “misinformation laws” and control/regulation of social media so their propaganda can go unchallenged. Enforcing the border and deporting as many illegal aliens as possible. Using diplomacy to negotiate from a position of strength to avoid global conflicts. Lowering taxes and using tariffs to encourage American companies to keep manufacturing in America.
Can inflation actually be reigned in? Probably not. But like Democrats shutting down businesses to actively harm the economy in the lead up to 2020 it was a useful tool for gaining office.
You’re clearly not going to give him credit for any accomplishment ever. I suspect you imbibe leftist media voraciously and thus are ensconced in a propaganda bubble. Try branching out from Maddow and Reid every now and again. At least it might allow you to see when you’re being lied to.

but god does it feel good watching the establishment apparatus eat ####### ####.
for me personally, it's not directed at people like you and I. it's the institutions that have plagued this country for generations. and I want them put out to pasture.
I fear Donnie is only going to be able to accomplish 5% of what he wants. but the fact that this many people voted for it and feel similarly (outside of the crazies) - ESPECIALLY the younger generation - is making me optimistic about where our heads are at as an electorate.
If I had to pick 1 goal - I want the media to just get absolutely nuked. Kill Pharma ads on TV and their money dries up. That eviscerates a lot of our problems, as it removes the capture of the legacy media platforms and forces them into a business model that actually captures viewers.
Crypto up, taxes down...LFG
If I may....you could also flip this conversation, right?
Like, is it a rule of membership or something for Blue Teamers that they can never be supportive of anything Trump says or does?
But now instead of being able to honestly discuss policy, I'm seeing more Blue Team voters who are interested in doing a touchdown danceeverything they can in the face of the left right than trying to instill any sense of unity among the people they talk to. Lose with dignity/Win with grace? Nah, screw all that. It's more about making as many people on the losing side feel like #### as you possibly can they're complete morons for having objective optimism regarding some of the policies he ran on.

It truly was encouraging to see the young vote, black vote, and Hispanic vote trending upward toward red. Long way to go but it’s a good sign. Now if we get 4 good years those numbers should grow in spite of the war of negativity that’s coming.

You can flip that around, because it definitely goes both ways. Occasionally

a good, civil discussion will break out here on the TNets. Unfortunately, a "I know you are, but what am I?" is just as likely.
And the leftys are just as guilty as the rightys and the joeys. : - )
