around these heah parts. The only time I ever questioned one of his stories was early on when rumors were flying that Notre Dame was going to join the ACC in football in 2020. Those rumors fly around yearly, so I thought it was just another case of someone crying "Leppy!"
How was I to know that the ACC would be stupid enough to allow them to join only for one year? We finally had them over the veritable negotiating barrel, and did nothing but kowtow to their every wish.
If anyone needs it drilled into their heads that ND will never, ever join permanently in football, that should have taught you the lesson.

How many corroborating, direct witnesses to an event are required before it’s acceptable journalism to report it?

if a source gives you info, you should also give what they said some critical thought to see if it even passes the sniff test of truth. This one quite obviously did not, but he ran with it anyway.

I haven’t seen one.
After complaining that the site is terrible, your first response to this report was this;

There’s no fake news here. In fact Shane Beamer did indeed go over unprovoked by Antonio. He was, however, provoked by his own players and acted on their petty pretenses.

This is where failures in reading comprehension can be a problem. In David's initial reporting of the incident he did not state that Beamer insulted Antonio, he stated that two sources relayed to him that Beamer was insulting during the incident, and that he was looking into more details and corroboration.
Everything else in his initial reporting checked out, and we still don't quite know what really transpired from a words standpoint between the two. Shane said he was polite. Two witnesses say otherwise. Whatever. That was a weak move from a head coach of a Power 5 program regardless.
