There is no #79 on this years roster so I’m going back to the players with a higher number.

Todays player spotlight is #89 Jack Smith. He is a redshirt junior punter for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

He has played as Clemson’s back up punter for the last 3 years but this year he is expected to be the starting punter for the tigers. He has only punted 5 times over the past 3 seasons though. So he has much to prove this upcoming season.

A fun fact I found out about Jack Smith is that he was a reserve QB in high school. He wasn’t half bad either. He “completed 17-of-21 passes for 186 yards and had 264 rushing yards and a touchdown in just 27 attempts” as a back up QB in high school. So if the worst happens this season and all our other quarterbacks are down. Then who knows we may see Jack as our back up QB. Or we could see a fake punt with Jack throwing or running the ball for a first down.

Todays player spotlight is #78 Blake Miller. Blake Miller is a graduate senior offensive lineman for the 2025 Clemson Tigers. He is actually just 1 of 5 graduate senior offensive linemen coming back this year.

Miller has started every game at right tackle for Clemson since 2022. He was named a Freshman All-American in 2022 and also was a two-time All-ACC selection. He also “enters 2025 with the ninth-most career snaps from scrimmage on record in Clemson history (2,893) and concluded 2024 as one of 28 players on-record in school history to play 2,500 career snaps from scrimmage.” So Miller seems poised to continue his dominance this coming season.

Todays player spotlight is #77 Ronan O’Connell. He is a redshirt freshman offensive linemen for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

O’Connell “Powered his high school (team) to three state title appearances before joining Clemson's 2024 recruiting class ... (He)played six games and seven offensive snaps while redshirting (for Clemson) in 2024.”

A few fun facts about him is that he was an “outstanding wrestler who finished second in the state in 285-pound division as a junior(in high school.).” He had 85 pancake blocks as junior in high school as well. He “blocked for quarterback Jonathan Palmer, the nephew of former Southern California Heisman Trophy-winner Carson Palmer” and “led Page High School to Tennessee’s state championship game in each of his last three seasons”.

Todays player spotlight is #76 Mason Wade. He is a redshirt freshmen offensive linemen for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

In 2024 he played “in three games and played 29 offensive snaps while redshirting … played 13 snaps in his collegiate debut vs. Appalachian State … played 16 snaps in Clemson’s 59-point effort vs. NC State.”

He was a “four-year starter at left tackle (for Loudoun Vally HS) who was a two-time team captain (2022-23) and named as the team’s MVP as a senior in 2023”. He “completed his prep career holding records in the bench press, clean and three-cone drill in the school’s 62-year history” and “averaged double-digit pancakes per game as a senior according to Loudoun Valley’s coaching staff”.

Here are some fun facts about Mason Wade. He used to play rugby while he was growing up. He had a 4.0 GPA in high school. He initially committed to Duke before signing with Clemson.

Todays play spotlight is #75 Tucker Kattus. He is a true freshman offensive lineman for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

Tucker was a “Three-year starter at left tackle for Cincinnati’s St. Xavier High School”. He also “was a first-team all-league selection and named the conference’s offensive lineman of the year as both a junior and senior … first-team all-state honoree in 2024”.

Tucker has 2 brothers who both play TE at Kentucky and his father, Eric Tucker, played TE at Michigan, as well as having a 7 year stint in the NFL where he played 6 of those years as a Cincinnati Bengal. Funnily enough Tucker is the only one in his family that doesn’t play TE.

Here is a quote from an article from Shakin The Southland, “Tucker Kattus is another 3-star who also de-committed from a different school (Kentucky) to choose Clemson. He has two brothers on Kentucky (both tight ends), so perhaps others assumed he would never consider anywhere outside Lexington. Michigan and Clemson were the only true power programs to have an official offer listed on Rivals, however, his tape is impressive as he plays both tackle positions. He moves well and excels in both pass protection and run blocking. Of course, I’m watching highlights, so I am not seeing his mistakes, but he looks like a very strong recruit.”.

I recommend reading the whole article. It talks about the Clemson 2025 offensive linemen. It’s a good read.

Hear is what Tucker had to say on twitter about joining the Clemson football program: “I have always been a Clemson Football fan and have always wanted to run down the hill as a player. I value the strong values and success of the program. I also believe I will be developed here like no other place and will be able to achieve my goals and individual goals.”

Todays player spotlight is #74 Brayden Jacobs. He is a true freshmen offensive lineman for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

Brayden was a unanimous 4 star prospect from Milton HS. He was “ranked as the No. 51 player in the nation by 247Sports, which also listed him as eighth-best player in Georgia and eighth-best offensive tackle in the country … ranked No. 125 overall by Rivals, as well as the 16th-best at his position and 15th-best player in Georgia … ranked among the nation’s top 45 offensive tackles by both ESPN (35) and On3 (43)”. He also competed in wrestling and swimming in high school.

Brayden’s father father, Brandon Jacobs, was a two time Super Bowl champion RB with the New York Giants. Brandon is still the all time leader in rushing touchdowns for the Giants with 60 rushing TDS for his career in NY. So Brayden is the son of a 2 time Super Bowl champion.

There is no #73 for Clemson this year so I am going back to cover a player I haven’t covered yet.

Todays player spotlight is #90 Stephiylan (STEPH-eye-linn) Green. He is a redshirt sophomore DT for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

Green is an “Emerging interior defender who enters 2025 credited with 17 tackles (2.5 for loss), one sack and a pass breakup in 319 defensive snaps over 14 career games in his true freshman and redshirt freshman seasons.” This season, Green should be a good replacement for the NFL bound Payton Page. His size on the interior line (6-foot-4, 290-pounds) should give him a boost at the line of scrimmage.

In high school, Green “Helped Rome (HS) to 12-2 record in 2022 when the team reached the Georgia state semifinals … part of a squad that finished ranked 16th in the state by MaxPreps … had strong senior season with 68 tackles, 25 of which were tackles behind the line of scrimmage … contributed 10 sacks and two interceptions and a 32-yard interception return touchdown in 2022… played defensive tackle and defensive end … all-state honoree as a junior and senior … named all-region his final three years … had 43 tackles, including nine tackles for loss and a sack, and two pass breakups as a sophomore in 2020”.
