Some of our basketball fans make me laugh

All year some fans bashed the ACC as the worst conference in basketball. This was mainly used to minimize our teams accomplishments in the regular season and bash brownell.
Shortly after the season, we get heidbreder to commit. He was an all conference player in the mountain west, a conference that these fans said was better than the ACC this past year.
Not only are some of these fans not excited about the commitment, but they are bashing this commitment.
Why are you all not more excited about getting a commitment from an all conference player in a conference better than the ACC?

So it’s a conspiracy that everyone who runs a college basketball analytical ranking system said the ACC was the worst so they could undermine the coach at Clemson?

Tiger fans are tough to grade.
Almost all are knowledgeable and apparently a large majority can find fault with something Clemson related every day.
Most of the complainers don’t make me laugh.
My old high school baseball coach had a saying that he used often (too often)
It was “If ignorance was a bliss we would all be blisters. I guess that was his way of making us smarter.
Tiger basketball will always be fun but, like many other things, it can be disappointing too. I’ll support them until the very end.

I don't think the mountain west was a better basketball conference than the ACC last year, despite what the bs net rankings tell you.
Either way, shouldn't you be super excited that we snagged an all conference player from a conference that is better than the ACC? That is elite level recruiting.

I like the way the basketball program Is improving. Clemson isn’t going to be world beaters between now and next season but I think that efforts are being made to make the program more competitive and it is apparent to me that it can happen. A single blue chip recruit can turn this program into one that you all want. The present coach has as much of a chance of making that happen as a new guy coming into the program. Today’s Tiger basketball program isn’t going to attract the number one player nor will it attract a major coach looking for a challenge. We all dislike the transfer program but it could, and likely will, make the Tiger program better.

Regular season accomplishments don’t equate to jack schmidt when you get bounced from a tourney as a 1 seed hosting. No body gets excited over basketball because we all know the inevitable outcome under this head coach. Year after year after year after year after year………………

Answer this very simple question.
Which is the better accomplishment? Getting all conference honors in the mountain west or the ACC for the 2022-2023 season?

Surely.
The people that vote on All Conference teams are media members and others that have covered and watched the games all year. I trust a human voting process from educated people
Conference rankings are based on computer driven analytics and numbers. I don't believe that these numbers reflect actual power rankings of conferences.
I do not believe that Mountain West was a better conference than the ACC last year despite what the net rating will tell you. If we had a similar competition to the ACC Big Ten challenge, I believe the ACC would win somewhat easily. Vegas would have the ACC favored as well.
Now you answer my question.

So, now that you’ve gotten that out of your system I will point out that your entire argument is based on a fallacy. The computer polls that you find so unreliable did not rate the Mountain West ahead of the ACC. Sagarin had the ACC 6th and the Mountain West 8th. NET ranks had the ACC 5th and the Mountain West 8th. RPI had Mountain West ranked higher but it is a simple formula not really useful for comparing in aggregate. So, are the computers really smart or were you fos all along?

I guess after the tournament, ACC rose in the net rankings and mountain west fell. Which makes sense, because it was obvious the ACC was better than the mountain west.
Let's not pretend you weren't touting the mountain west as better than the ACC prior to the tournament when you were arguing we shouldn't have been included in the field. What you are saying now is that you and the NET had it wrong going into the tournament

Wow. How old are you? You can't even remember what you type? I guess when you cry about brownell every day it's hard to keep track.
You brought up the mountain west being better than the ACC multiple times. Just a quick search shows this thread where you defended the bs metrics having the mountain west ahead of the acc.

Your example of me bringing up the Mountain West is a thread where I reply to someone else who actually brought up the Mountain West? Then I dismissed the significance of those rankings to focus on Brad’s very specific outcomes against teams - none of which were in the Mountain West. You’re really struggling and the line between your brand of bs and JK’s is getting thinner and thinner.

The team is lacking a leader, a “big toe”. Bring in all the transfer “pinkies” you want however, when you start each game knowing you’ll be out coached .. you tend to fail in crunch time. The lack of coaching, recruiting and player development (for years) continues to seal our fate.
I’ll support the team and players and wish them the best. A first round home win in the NIT against a team your favored by 15+ ..isn’t asking too much right?

It seems to me this lunatic fringe you mention are the ones who are unsophisticated and do not understand the game of basketball. Every second they can attempt to rationalize thirteen years of largely inconsistent and mediocre results under Brad Brownell helps them justify their woeful existence and makes them feel more important than they really are.

The only accomplishment was due to the human sportswriters, who pay little attention to Clemson basketball in the first place because we're such a mediocre afterthought every season, slotting us pre-season in the 11 spot in the ACC while we went on to finish in 3rd place, in perhaps the worst performing overall ACC slate in its history. Humans are obviously better at ranking than computers, which only had us as a lowly mid-60's ahead of the NCAAT that contributed to us getting so wrongfully left out. We sure showed those computers though, right?

What kind of understanding does it take to figure out we are supposed to get more points than our opponents.
Unintelligent fans blindly follow a lost cause for 10 plus years. I don’t mean to sound condescending but the calling out of Clemson fans for stating the obvious to most people is very short sighted.
I feel I understand basketball as well as most and I feel we could do better.
Good coaches do not lose to Morehead St in the first round of the “you are not good enough” tournament.

No one here has said that we can't do better
1

or shouldn't try to be better.
The issue is that some people here don't understand what it takes to be better. They just think that a new coach is magically going to transform the program. It doesn't work that way.
As I've said many times, I don't have a problem with people wanting a new coach, but that has to come with the realization that our basketball problems at Clemson run much deeper than who the coach is.
We are not viewed as a school that cares about basketball, and that reputation has been earned over the last 100 years when we have prided ourselves on being a football school while neglecting basketball. This has manifest itself in multiple ways, including a culture within the administration and fan base which screams "We don't care about basketball!"
Combine that with a conference with basketball schools, and Clemson basketball has a really tough hill to climb.
Thankfully, Neff understands the basketball issues at Clemson and is working to remedy them, but it's not an overnight process. He understands that we need to pay our coaches more and give them better facilities to work with. Those things are in process. Anyone who cares about Clemson basketball should be thankful for that, but that's not what I see from some of you on here. Rather, I see complaints that we shouldn't be paying coaches so much and we don't need to waste money on basketball facilities.
That's backwards - and it's also the classic Clemson fan response. That line of thinking is why we haven't had more success in basketball, and also a potential barrier to seeing the sustained success we all want.

With each post of hers the coot comes out more and more. Perhaps the best trolling job in the history of the intrawebs.
She is obviously pretty smart, though. She would have never hired Dabo as he was unqualified, unlike Brad. Our recruiting has DEFINITELY (caps hers) fallen off in football (from Top 10 under Dabo to Top 10 under Dabo). Brad's top 40 salary and top 40 recruiting class average delivering a 75th place average finish over that span is considered OVERachieving. Etc. Etc.
