I suppose my thing with the "color guys" is that they are, for the most part, colorless. Very few actually have a personality. I appreciate the expert analysis. However, every....single...play does not need to be broken down into the minutiae of the game. Sometimes it's just a pitch, swing of the bat, a good block, nice catch...etc.

My initial thought is that they are afraid of saying the wrong thing. They try to keep their opinions to themselves (unless it's about the game itself) because they don't want to #### anyone off.

And it has to be the right balance of expert opinion and maybe a little humor.
Somewhere between Aikman and McAfee.
