It bears the question on Wes Goodwin's football acumen in the heat of the moment.

How about not pulling DJU on that last drive in 2022 and not pulling Mafah in this one! DJU never produced a game winning drive. And Mafah is just simply hurt like James Davis was in 2006!

Reggie was electric and when he was pulled on that last drive, you could see the shoulders slump on the entire OL. Such a deflating move.

Sad thing is....from I am told, James Davis asked Bowden

To leave Reggie in. But Bowden's mindset was that James was his man and he should be in there. Reggie was getting about 10 yards a clip.......

I was at an IPTAY meeting in Laurens County the next year.I remember while Bowden was answering questions at the podium, one older fellow asked him straight out why he took Merriweather out for Davis. His answer, the best player needed to be the field.

Which is why he was out of coaching in less than two years. He went with percentages instead of feel.

I realized in 2022 .. the Coot games mean much more to the fans than the coaches …

Reggie was one of the most underrated RB Clemson ever had. His stat line was right there with Davis.

reminds me more of Chad Smith who played a great game against Ohio State and in the ACC championship games.......then LSU game he simply didn't play.....i'll never understand that.....6-4 240lb senior linebacker....once again if i remember correctly they tried to blame it on the need to get speed on the field against LSU.....i remember venables son playing alot and not playing well.

The only difference is that in 2006 Reggie was running wild and was pulled to allow a hurt Davis to run three straight one yard running plays. Last Saturday no one was even given a chance to replace a hurt Mafah. Neither instance showed good coaching. I think Dabo can be stubborn about taking starters out when they are not playing well.

This exactly like it. I wonder if it’s some sort of nervous buttpucker that happens in close, big games to coaches. Kind of like when you got to sink that 3 foot putt to win the tournament and you overhit by about 10 feet

Also remember Dabo putting DW in at the Georgia game and him running the offense right down the field and scoring a touchdown and then him never seeing the field again the rest of the game

Tommy Bowden was not a game day coach and that was perhaps his worst move ever.
