Does new DC have to be a great recruiter

In today’s pay for play maybe you can get by with a great defensive mind and let someone else handle talent acquisition

If you pay them, they will come.

Think Field of Dreams here

Well as of this moment Wes is the DC.
If Dabo lets him go I will discuss it then.
However I dont take joy in someone losing their job.

Never hurts, as Brent was obviously both! But if u have to choose, u take being a quality DC all day & hope your staff can recruit. Preferably a LB coach as well that can teach tackling, taking proper angles & leverage! All the things we lack.

If he's a great DC, I don't believe he needs to be a great recruiter. His success on the field will attract the talent (providing the NIL money is there as well)...

I'm honestly hoping that if Dabo does move on at DC that it's someone who will bring the pieces we need with him. We are in dire need of another LB and interior D-Line. Adams coming in, but we still need depth for rotation. Clemson was their best when we could constantly rotate.

If we have a problem, it is not coaching but lack of the depth and future NFL quality players that we used to have. If a DC cannot recruit, it makes no difference how he coaches.

Who’s on staff. He was Spurrier’s DC when they had a good run. The DC from OU was just announced that he is officially West Virginia’s DC.

In my eyes not really. You have great DL recruiting mostly from Eason and Reed does a great job at recruiting underrated DBs. But really recruiting now is just sliding them a check.
