Does Dabo hold out on a DC for 1 more year for BV?

Venables has to be on the hot seat right now and I wouldn’t be surprised to see OU buy him out if he only puts together a 6-7 win season next year. I bet BV would gladly return to Clemson as DC should he fet fired from OU and we offer him a job

Its tough to figure out what happened this year.

We had most of the same dudes we had last year when we finished 8th.
So I guess you could say there’s a possibility we could return to top 10, but to me it looked like the guys weren’t playing with enough intensity and fire.
It’s the same coaches who have been teaching winning techniques, so the only thing I can guess is the voice at the top has lost its influence.
Maybe we can return to “8th”, but I wouldn’t count on the fire returning with the same less voice. I think Wes needs to move back in the booth where he did a great job for BV. I don’t know what we do at the lead position, but it appears we need to do something.

OU was absolutely screwed by the SEC schedule maker this year and next so there is little chance for major improvement. Texas, on the other hand, was given the softest entrance to the conference possible for their first two seasons.

Its amazing how often this is being overlooked/ ignored. But...fans feelings say to fire and humiliate the DC, someone has to pay right?...no patience anymore, no development.

If they fire Venables I would foresee him taking a break from coaching and cashing those severance checks for a few years.

He’s not coming back here unless for some reason we get in a better conference. If he does get axed I could see him takin some time with his wife and then going to an SEC School

Venerables ain't coming back. Let it go, it's plenty of qualified coordinators out there.

Venables is just as responsible for our championships as is Dabo. Why would he leave a premiere university with such a pedigree in the premiere conference to come save Dabo? Makes Zero sense.

You make it sound like he has a choice. If he finishes 500 or worse for the 3rd time in 4 years OU will make the choice for him ! Venables loved it here and only left to be a head coach so the posts that say he will never come back are clueless false posts . If he is let go he would most certainly come back if asked . Problem is Dabo cannot waste another year waiting . Clemson has been without a D coordinator for several years now and that has to be fixed right now ‘
