Does anyone think that practice will be fun?

Nov 8, 2022, 6:23 AM

What little I remember from the 60s Football, losing a game was bad enough. Getting one's tail whipped made practices the next week a total misery. Those were the days of roll blocking, Head slapping, forearm shivers, and double teams that would now be considered 15-yard penalties.

Used to watch Coach Howard and his teams

practice occasionally.

They were brutal or at least it seemed so. Saw many players having their rear ends handed to them by Coach, and that was even after wins!

Bigun, you'll like this: (as an aside) There's an old joke...Howard would send in a play: RL (run left) or RR (run right) or RUTM (run up the middle.) One QB sent him a message: "How bout a pass?" Howard sent a note: "FU." lol......

Our HS coach was old school, and practices after a loss were tough, especially if we lost because of lack of effort. However, he also had the equipment managers dye some white practice jerseys pink, and if you graded below 70% for the game you had to wear the pink jersey to school the entire next week. That was far worse than the practice and tremendous motivation, but any HS coach trying that today would be fired because you can't hurt anyone's feelings any more.

Sure it will be fun, for one quarterback, but not the other. Dabo needs to make a decision this week then we will get to see if Saturday will be fun.

Imagine the difference in practice if coach V were there!

No one will get to use the slide this week. Gotta take the stairs.
