Remember Itza Pizza?

Nov 2, 2022, 4:29 PM

Good times, getting delivery to Johnstone.

I was talking to my son this morning on the way to school and told him that while college seems like nothing but fun and good times, as he hears it from me now, 30 years after the fact, it had its share of frustrations, disappointments, aggravations, stresses, etc. But in retrospect, we tend to bring all the good memories out front and tuck all the bad or not-so-good ones away somewhere in the back. Would be nice if we could look at the present the same way, where we tend to bring the bad or not-so-good stuff up to the front and tuck the good stuff away in the back.

Anyway - good times, decent pizza!

And we were happy when they put that in there. It felt like the University was stepping it up. I visited Duke to see a friend and when I realized how neglected were on food. Then Itza came. I was glad they were starting to try to give us better options. I wonder what the options are now for these kids with their cards.

Does anyone remember they sold Taco Bell out of what

Nov 2, 2022, 8:10 PM

I think was a shed near the high rises? During the mid 90s.

We were happy for it. We thought Clemson was really stepping it up.

That was the "East Campus Store". Me and Harold Jamison used to arrive at Taco Bell at the same time pretty much every other day.

about this and they all look at me like I am crazy. So I wasn't sure if I was dreaming about Taco Bell being sold out of what looked like a shed they bought from the Home Depot parking lot or not.

It does seem crazy.

daughter.

I asked the tour guide about "cookie break" when they showed us Schilletter.

The guide said that "cookie break" does not exist but that a lot of dads (like me) ask about it on her tours. She mused that it must have been something that everyone liked.

Loved that pizza. Anyone remember the hot dog shop in the basement under where subway is located. This was early 80’s. Those were pretty good.

I believe it was a 30 inch pizza, and they couldn’t get it through the front door of our apartment, had to come through the sliding glass door in order not to tilt it. Tasted like cardboard but filled up 8 college students

time when Hardee’s opened near the Esso Club. The real deal was when our friend got a car and we could go to Lester’s. Lester’s had a pretty decent little pizza made one at a time in a miniature oven.
The beer and bowling machine made it taste great.

This was downtown but I used to love two places, back in the 90's a place called Parcheezi's and a place that closed a few years ago, Peppinos.

Miss both of those places.

Yessir! Remember both of those places. Peppinos was solid. They could churn out the slices late night too. Not sure I had it sober / during the day for the first six months I had it but was surprised when I did it was legit good pizza.
