Does anyone actually talk baseball here?

3

Oct 20, 2024, 8:18 AM

For whatever reason "Mound Watch" gets engagement but there is ZERO baseballl talk on this page and the few people who post actaul baseball stuff do not get engagement? I get that it's football season, but this is a baseball forum so besides "mound watch" there is nothing???

Team 128 has been in Fall Ball practice now since 10/1, 7 inning scrimmages almost every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and are actually scrimmaging as we speak, started at 8:00AM this morning.

Has anyone been? Anyone seen the tranfers play? How do the incoming fresham look?

I asked a few times about fall ball too but haven’t seen anything

You would think with the excitement about the Savannah Bananas coming to DV there would be more interest in general

I’m neighbors with one of the coaches so I get updates from him pretty often. Yes, fall ball in full swing. Going to Tuscaloosa soon to play and they were looking to go to ECU but I believe that fell through. I haven’t personally seen transfers/freshmen play but he’s said they’re a solid group of guys, some who will make an immediate impact. Still seeing how they all fit/who will start.
One thing he did mention that I think people began to understand even more in last years Supers is what a once in a generation player Cam Cannerella is. He said “enjoy it. this is his last year and if he can stay healthy, who know what all he will do.”

Hope Cam is 100% to start the season. Shoulder surgeries can be a b*tch!

I umpire and I called a game of a freshman that's coming in. Not going to say where because I don't want to call him out. I think he going to be a pitcher. I hope he isn't a hitter..I was on the field and not behind the plate but I was able to get a glimpse of him. I think he pitched 1 or 2 innings. He has legit stuff but he's still in "highschool mode... A little immature". But weren't we all. I was just a little disappointed at how was goofing off and not working on his craft. He was going against some really good players... There was one pitcher that played some years in the majors called him out. and literally told him to quit F'n around and do something with your hips. He didn't see what all the hype is about lol I don't remember the exact words but they were along thar line...one thing that really disappointed me was how competitive he is. I know he's a pitcher. But when he was at the plate to hit against a certain pitcher, he chickened out. the pitcher was bringing it throwing 🔥🔥 mid 90s. And you would think you'd like to try to get a hit off that or work on something with live practice. But he's a pitcher and maybe he knows hitting isn't in his future.

Some quality arms in the '24 class. They grow up fast (or at least should) once they start competing with guys 3-4 years older than them.

I know there are a few guys recovering from injuries/surgeries. Hopefully they are all getting healthy and will be able to compete in'25

I am happy to discuss any and all things Clemson baseball at all times of year. Unfortunately I am not able to make it to any fall games/scrimmages.

Yeah, but you probably wouldn't like SEC baseball talk. Baseball is the game of games to me. BTW, UT made Vitello the highest paid coach in college baseball.....3 million per year plus bonuses and perks. You guys have good baseball, too.

I have not been able to get to any Clemson games this fall, but I did travel to Chapel Hill last week to see UNC. They have some key players from our state. I saw Kyle Percival pitch (Andrew Jackson HS). He’s their ace. LHP throws 93/94.

Freshman Rom Kellis from Florence-Darlington Technical College is their clean up hitter. Big RHP Matt Poston from FDTC is also on the staff.

Honestly, I don’t know why Clemson doesn’t give that school more notice. JT Marr was signed by Penn State and led the B1G in hitting all season until the last day. He finished second as one of only two hitters in the conference over .400. A couple of years ago one of the top pitchers in the SEC came from FDTC. We’re letting a lot of talent get away.

Sorry: I meant to say Junior Rom Kellis. It’s his first year with UNC, but he played 2 years at FDTC. Palmer only played 1 year though, so he will have 3 years of eligibility at Carolina.

Kyle’s Perceval’s brother was on Clemsons roster last year or year before that! AJ High is right down the road from me and he was a great pitcher

Unc does have a good baseball team and coach so I’m sure we tried recruiting him

Re: Does anyone actually talk baseball here?

Oct 21, 2024, 3:30 PM

We did not recruit Rom or Matt. And SC signed FDTC’s ace, LHP Ayden Palmer. We didn’t recruit him either. He was about to sign with Florida so SC stepped in and stole him away.

you must have missed that we did win our regional and lost in the supers to a talented Florida squad, with probably the best player in the country on it.

Not sure if that was addressed to me but apparently it was, so I’ll respond anyway. I know our talent level is pretty good, but I’m just saying we are letting more talent get away that we could have.

Florida & SC went after Ayden Palmer, and SC got him. He has 3 years of eligibility left, and we didn’t give him a look. I am sure we could use a quality LHP with 3 years of eligibility.

Four months ago, Rom Kellis (like AP) was at FDTC. Now he’s the clean up hitter for UNC, and a pretty solid catcher, too. We didn’t give him a look either, but I expect him to be one of the best players in the ACC for the next 2 seasons. Rom would have loved to stay in state.

Upon second look, it appears the comment was addressed to another poster. Still, that little school in Florence has a lot of talent we could use. It has been there for years. Let’s give it a look.

Lot of us do when there’s something to talk about. I don’t know of any site (including here) that does much off season Baseball coverage so not a lot to talk about until we get near Spring. Even when we land big recruits, with the MLB draft you don’t know if they’ll ever set foot on campus. Some good talk here during the season

Run counter to the narrative that Clemson is doing the right thing by not using the portal or paying up front NIL $$.

I’m a huge clemson baseball guy. Love football but baseball is my go to. Always attend games. I tend to get out in the fall and bring my dog to watch some scrimmages …been busy. No posts yet from tnet on scrimmages etc. I know they go to Bama here soon. Wish had some home ones like vs ecu last year and uncw I believe it was too. Can’t wait. Some good transfers coming in and a talented fresh class with many returning pieces. Stay healthy and take the next step to Omaha. It’s gonna happen. A storm is brewing!
