that basketball players entering the portal were influenced by the plethora of negative comments from fans all season, including some on Tigernet?
A couple of transfers would have been sure starters on a team coming off an Elite 8 appearance. Yet, the overwhelming negativity against the coach throughout the season, and some even against individual players, was no doubt perceived by players as lack of support for the team.
I have said all along that we should support the team during the season and make any coaching decisions when it’s over. Personally, I think Brownell earned a couple more years despite the mid season slump. I think he redeemed himself, and we as Tiger faithful should have shown more patience and support.
Please be kind. I’m extremely sensitive.

That’s certainly possible. NIL could be the culprit. I guess we’ll know once we see where they land.

Somehow the avalanche of negativity for the past three months must have escaped his notice.

Well, I don’t know they’re just football fans. If they wear a paw, I support them no matter what sport they play, and they probably do too. They’re just frustrated at the program’s stagnation over the years.
But then we have a good team that reaches the Elite 8, yet they faced a storm of criticism getting there. I don’t know if the negativity is the principal reason, only that it could be a factor.

lol - it’s the basketball fans that aren’t happy with Brad. The diehard football, basketball casuals think an Elite 8 deserves a statue and a lifetime contract.
I consider myself to be equally both (football and basketball, my love for both is virtually equal) and I think Coach Brownell deserves an extension.

We were lucky enough to attend the All in Ball. Met a lot of the football players. I begged them to stay off this board as a few bad apples and Monday morning quarterbacks would drive them crazy. I get some of the comments about Coach B. Also met him. Very nice man. The vitriol spewed here sometimes is so bad I rarely even post or even read the sight. I agree with you 100%

Do you consider the Stumpdown by a bad BC team in the ACCT part of a mid-season slump? How about losing 3 of the last 4 before the NCAAT -- does that get to use the mid-season slump excuse, also?
BBL's teams always slump mid and late season, losing embarrassing games to weak opponents.
Yes, we all enjoyed the run in the NCAAT, but a higher seeding (with the best Clemson ever? NOT) would have been expected most of the season.
Now to lose potential starters is disheartening.
