Do we have an invite?

If we don’t, why are we suing? Why wouldn’t we just let FSU do the dirty work? And why would Neff sound as positive as he does?
I genuinely don’t have any idea one way or another.

No conference is going to issue an invite to any school that has unresolved

legal entanglements that extend 12 years. And that is precisely why Clemson is litigating the media rights.

I’m not talking an official invite…more of a wink.

There might possibly be a "we might interested if you retain your media rights"

I believe we have both a wink and a nod from the BIG. Why else would we have sued the ACC? Suppose we won then had nowhere to go. Would be the laughing stock of the world.

Just because we win doesn't mean we have to go anywhere

It just means we keep our media rights when we do.

Officially... of course not. Behind the scenes, I think we do. No way Clemson and FSU blow up the ACC without assurances from either the B1G or SEC that they have a landing place. It cant be on paper... and I am sure that has a certain amount of risk... but if Clemson/FSU were getting the cold shoulder from the P2... they would be concentrating efforts on making the ACC better.. not trying to get out of it.

Neff is positive because our athletic department is in great financial shape whether we are in the ACC or somewhere else. Money is not an issue because every sport has great facilities and gets what they want.

It's like hiring a coach.

A head hunter hired by a university contacts the agent of a coach. "If we had an opening, your your coach be interested." And, that starts the conversation.
The school looking for a coach and the coach can both "truthfully" say, "We/I have not talked to anybody about this job." As the talk between the agent and head hunter progress, the talk becomes "If we offered him the job, what would it take for him to accept it?" Still the "I have not talked to anybody" line can be used. Only after virtually everything has been ironed out will either side say, "We offered him the job" or "I accepted the job."
Right now the Clemson administration, the SEC and the B1G can "truthfully" say, "We have not had any conversations with anyone about conference realignment."

We will land somewhere of we get out. Ideally B1G or SEC, but even the Big 12 would be better than the ACC.

I think it's reasonable to assume...

that neither Clemson nor FSU would be engaging in all of this legal wrangling if they didn't have a high level of assurance for a new landing spot.
