Oregon St. has a good offense. Don't know why they would want to go this route.

Not sure, but I thought Oregon St was losing their starting QB. Also, don't think they have a quality backup, or a highly ranked QB in their incoming Freshman class. Additionally, their offensive scheme may be more suited to DJ's skills. Of course, all my comments are based on hear-say, or are possible reasons for DJ's destination.
In any case, despite DJ's troubles at Clemson, I believe he has the talent to perform well in the right college setting. Also, there were plenty of off-kilter performances throughout the Clemson offense while DJ was the starter. DJ also played through hindering injuries last year because nobody in the QB room could do any better than he did on the field (even if he was injured). Additionally, several talented members of the offense (particularly at OL, WR, & RB) were also dealing with injuries (or in-season transfers) last year. This year, Clemson's offense and DJ's performance improved dramatically, even with the loss of our offensive coordinator. In any case, I shared the frustration of many TigerNet posters that Klubnik did not get a chance to gain some experience for next year throughout this season, if not replace DJ during his poorer performances this year (SC, for instance).
For what it's worth, I wish DJ the best at Oregon St. (if that's where he actually ends up). Would even like to see a Clemson/Oregon St match-up in next year's CFB Playoffs. OK, I admit it--even I have a wild imagination! .

Their starting QB for the year actually had "worse" numbers than DJ did on the season as a whole. Few yards, similar completion %, lot less TDs and same # of interceptions. I think DJ could be an upgrade if he plays like he did at the start of the season, especially vs Wake.

I like season "on the whole." First, you are aware their starting QB was hurt in game 4-5, so DJ had far more games. Their backup QB was flatout better than DJ most of the season they both played. Gulbranson had less interceptions (5 vs. 7), was more accurate, and had a much better average yards per attempt. He did have less touchdowns and yards, but he threw half as many attempts as DJ. And if you consider the last 6 games of DJ, Gulbranson runs away with every single stat. DJ is significantly worse than him. You're uninformed.

Oregon State appears to have a better offensive line and a system that better fits DJs talent. Clemson didn't adapt once it became apparent that DJ didn't fit the RPO system. Surely the OSU offensive coordinator is better than Streeter...

I have never understood why people say DJ was not a fit for the RPO system and would be better in a different system. Watching DJ he was a serviceable runner but very inconsistent passing. Quick decision making is his main weak spot but what offensive style does not require quick decision?
Can someone explain what I am missing?

Exactly. But why ride the bench at OrSt vs Oregon?

Obvious first guess is they didn’t want him.
Second was playing time. But their incumbent seems better than him.
What do we know about the QB coach there? Is he going to make DJ better? Or is this simply a proximity game for the family?

I figured when he didn't lock down Hawaii he must have been waiting on another development. This sounds like it could be it.

Wishing DJ a successful season next fall. He graduated with a Clemson degree so he will always be a Clemson man.

His problems here had nothing to do with his effort. I think DJ needs to find the sports psychologist that saved John Smoltz’ flagging career and turned him into a certain HOF’er.

I agree with this civil engineer. DJs problem was not the style of offense or a physical issue. The right sports psychologist could get him to the NFL.

I honestly hope that DJ does well there...they will be perfectly satisfied with a 7/4 season and a trip to the Sun Bpwl or possibly the new and improved natty...at any rate if Dabo liked him I want him to succeed..just somewhere else...as they say down south `bless his heart`!
