My guess would be the class of 2025. I thought all along it would be tough to pull in a top prospect with Klubnik and Vizzina on campus.

I agree. However, I believe the Tigers will still offer a QB in 2024. They'll continue to the look at & recruit the higher rated QB's available, but they'll still recruit someone--even is they have to offer a walk-on with potential. MHO!

If Cade could somehow stay healthy, is it possible we could hold Vizzina until the last 4 games and get him a red shirt? He could defacto become our 2024 signee if we could somehow make that work. Right now Helms is repping as QB2. I wonder if this is something they are thinking about as a backup plan if we don't sign anyone.

I think the coaches would tell us it is critical to land a QB1 every cycle. Given injuries, misses and portal, you can't skip a cycle. Unless of course you are willing to explore the portal yourself. I don't view Johnson or Tyson are true QB1 contenders, more like QB4's.
When you look at the last several years, when was the last time we had a true QB1 position battle in the spring? It has been forever. All it takes is one injury and your season is at risk. Also, a lack of competition can lead to settling for mediocre option...or not pushing each other to get better.
From everything I have read, Nolan is almost a Miami lock. I really hope we can find a true QB1 worthy prospect.

… and the others will portal out.
See the Trevor Lawrence situation as exhibit A.
We were loaded at QB when he signed.

This day and time I'm not sure how any program can keep more than 2 4* on the roster (NIL and transfers). Cade and Vizzina are both very good. I hope the coaches work to get Vizzina more snaps in practice just in case. We could have beaten SCarolina last year if we had played Cade in that game.

Did we fail to offer Merklinger while waiting on Noland?

If that was the case, I sure hope Noland gave us some solid reason to believe he was ours.

We held Merklinger up because we thought we were getting the kid out of Arkansas. When he chose Auburn over us, it really screwed things up because now we were behind for both Merkinger and Noland.

You are correct. I read some posts that Merklinger wasn't happy when we offered White and not him. He quickly shifted his interests to other schools. Too bad because some have made it sound like he was very, very interested in us. Pretty sure this is why we moved immediately to Noland with an offer rather than Merklinger.
