I want every 5 star we can get, but to insinuate that a kid is bad just because he follows the money is asinine. They didn't create the situation. They are just getting what they can in today's college football landscape. To pretend that anyone of us wouldn't have done the same is being insincere

For years Texas and Texas A&M athletic budgets (each) were more than twice Clemson's, and their first NIL pools were between $20-$30 Million each. That's how Jimbo Fisher got a #1 Class. They can buy virtually anyone they want, especially 5-Star players!
They usually get Top 10 or even Number 1 recruiting classes. Always good rarely great!
They pay more for former coaches that Clemson spends on NIL....
Last championship 2005, before that 1970. Since 1980 1 Championship, Clemson 3.
We had better coaches and players. Dabo (and Danny Ford) were smart to focus on what Clemson can control.

The amounts of money that the Texas schools are throwing around for HS kids who have never even had a snap in full pads on the college level is obscene. They are seriously upping the stakes, along with their overlords: e$ECpn in the monetary "arms race" to buy recruits & anyone who couldn't intuit this coming has been sleepwalking! And it's not just football, I about fell out of my chair this spring when I was watching the women's softball tournament & the announcers flippantly commented that TexasTech's "Ace" pitcher had been brought in with a newly-signed, million-dollar contract! For a pitcher in college softball!! Luckily sometimes karma is still a thang, & T-Texh were eliminated b-4 they could get the Natty trophy that they bought!

No, I understand about the NIL system & how it works; when I referenced e$ECpn, I really meant their broader impact on the $EC & where CFB/recruiting is headed as a whole, their subtle & not-so-subtle "politic-ing" for the $EC & super conferences, their influence in the way this "pay-for-play" system is progressing, etc., etc.

I just remember that when a certain position coach was hired, one of the selling points of this action, was this was going to lead to a caravan of players coming from this particular talent rich high school football (Grayson in Loganville, GA) program that Tyler Atkinson attended. It's been 9 seasons and that caravan doesn't even look like an old carriage and pack mule. Additionally, the hiring of said position hasn't yielded much in return either. That aside......GO TIGERS!!! BEAT LSU!!!

I was hoping Dabo was right about the July 1 house ruling making everything a level or more level playing field. It looks like it just made it easier for the rich school to buy all the top mercenaries. These kids aren’t athletes or players they go to the highest bidder and are free agent mercenaries every year. They have agents out shaking everyone down for more money. There needs to contracts and requirements to get paid if that’s the direction. No more sitting out bowl games no more transfer portal after one year because someone offered me more money. They should have to sign a contract and if they break it they pay back what they got plus the tuition and room and board. If they hold out or sit out other than injury they get fined just like NFL.
