gets a speeding ticket (doing 97 in a 65 zone) and it makes National news. I see hundreds doing this on I-85 every day. Guess he will live under the media microscope all his life.

It’s really not uncommon on the highways.
It’s wrong. But yes, people do it all the time.

It’s certainly true in Dallas. You can be doing 100mph and a motorcycle will go past you like you’re nailed to the ground, doing a wheelie. I use the express lanes around Dallas, where the speed limit is typically 75. My normal is cruise control on 79. I get passed like I’m parked, every single day.

Yep! Just sit and watch any interstate highway on any given day. I-95 is the worst. They are nothing more than race tracks. Very similar to the autobahns. And you hardly ever see any law enforcement on the highways.

my doors blown off by a convoy of three cars that had to EASILY be doing 90+. It ain't uncommon.
An older foreman at the chemical plant years ago was right on about interstate driving, too. I came back off a week's vacation, and we were taking a break in the break room, and he asked he, "Well, did he pass you?" I said, naturally, "Who are you talking about?"
He said, and I had to laugh, because it HAD HAPPENED: "The guy in the rusted out old Toyota Tercel doing about a hundred miles an hour."
They don't rust out so much anymore, but if you drive on the interstate for more than a couple hours, some guy or gal in an old, beat up Toyota Tercel or Corolla WILL blow your doors off. It's as sure as death and taxes.

The real Atlanta speedway are the interstate highways there. Just watch out for the daily ladder or BBQ you'll find in your lane.

driving straight through downtown Atlanta on the Interstate on a Sunday morning on vacation several years ago. It was a five to six lane wide racetrack, with EVERYBODY doing at least 85 mph. I happened to look over to my right, and there was a Highway Patrol car right in with the rest of the traffic. He wasn't even CONSIDERING pulling anybody over. He found an opening, dove to the right, and took the next available exit out of the madness. I almost had to laugh, but I was too busy trying not to get wrecked to do so. I don't know why anyone would ever take the loop around Atlanta to avoid traffic, it could not possibly have gotten you past the city any faster than we went that day.

Since he’s getting ready to come back, they are digging for any dirt possible in hopes of adding to his suspension. “They” don’t want him to play again.
This time next year (almost) everyone will have forgotten everything. He just needs to keep his head down and work.

Don’t think so. Unfortunately he has cooked his goose. It is crazy he came through our program and excelled at every spot. He knows better. Like raising children. Pray, love, nurture - but satan makes that sin so enticing. Kids go wrong.

I doubt they extend his suspension. Too much money riding on his first game back. It's no accident his first game back is the Houston matchup.

I think the speeding is due to how easy it is to drive modern cars. With one toe you can hit the gas or the brake, anti-lock braking, enhanced steering with one finger...
Most of us remember longer stopping distances, having to mash the brakes, and using two hands on the steering wheel. You had to anticipate and pay attention more. There was still tailgating and speeding, but much less so.
I'm especially worried about the folks with 4-wheel drive who speed in rain and snow. Four-wheel drive doesn't help with braking or steering.

Speed limit here in NC is 70, they give you 9 mph here without stopping you so 79 is the the regular speed but 100 is very common on I-85 & I-40 going through NC.
I don’t do it but it is common.
When I was 16-19 years old I drove over a 100 many times until I lost my Drivers license in SC, paid SR22 insurance after riding a bike at Myrtle Beach all summer without a license.
I didn’t have another speeding ticket until I was 45 years old going through Greenville where the speed dropped from 65 to 55. I got a ticket on I-85 doing 67 in a 55 down a big hill. Haven’t had another ticket for the last 9 years.
I’m sure Deshaun will learn his lesson too.
