Yes, he's wrong.
Do you realize how much France aided us in the Revolutionary War? How many munitions were sent here? How much naval protection they gave us?
French forces were the most numerous of any Allied Forces in WWI.
The French Resistance in WWII lasted the entire war.
I know it's a running joke, but when men who have Presidential aspirations start putting down our oldest Allies, it borders on idiocy.

Yes, I know exactly what they did in the Revolutionary War. I also know that France is a shell of the global power that it was at that time in history.
The resistance in WWII, does NOT mean that they didn't surrender. Turkish war? Indochina?
DeSantis shouldn't have said it all, but France fighting against Russia would end in French surrender (if no one else jumped in).
France would not have to worry about Russia because we would obliterate Russia for them even as France and everyone else (including us) funds Russia's military through oil purchases.

The last 2 posts I've seen on Tigernet are total Nothing Burgers. He'll be a Russian spy before it's over. I'm sure he's already a raaaaacist.
He told some college students to take off their masks, or keep them on - what a terrible person.

I don't see the utility of a governor of any state spouting off about issues not related to their state unless they're running for a national office. Maybe he is?
The analogy of Russia being a gas station is not a new one. John McCain in 2014-"Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country." Ah, the elder statesman McCain, the imbecile DeSantis.
France helped us with the Brits during the Revolutionary War, but since then I would say we've more than paid them back in blood and treasure in WWI and WWII.
The French did not put up a fierce fight against Hitler and in fact Vichy France collaborated with Hitler. Compare England's determination vs France, granted England wasn't invaded as such.
I think it was counterproductive to disparage the French and poke the Russian bear, but I think his words are true. France refused to allow the US to access French airspace when we bombed good guy Muammar Qaddafi in Libya. They've sucked up to Iran over and over.
Perhaps he is trying to seize some of Trump's base and is going to run?
Let's put the lack of smarts issue to bed though. He graduated magna ### laude from Yale and ### laude from Harvard Law.
I agree with you that DeSantis is acting like a politician in playing to a segment of the GOP, but personally I would vote early and often for this guy over any of the current suspects the Dems may put forth.

though.
There are very few in either party with national aspirations that I could vote for. From the GOP, the Gov. of Maryland, Paul Ryan (yea dream on), Romney, Sasse. From the Dems, Joe Manchin (yea dream on), maybe Mayor Pete...
As for WWII, we've never had to fight a world war on our soil and we never will. It's funny how we lecture and make jokes of the French with so much of the fighting taking part on their soil. And you're right, the French had poor leadership in WWII, but who can question the effectiveness of the French Resistance carried out by the French people?

I'd personally take Ben Sasse over any of them including DeSantis. Pete B is brilliant and a smooth talker, but his political philosophy is too liberal for me to even begin to consider him.
I can't get the link to load, but an interesting read on the French effort in WWII in general and the Resistance in particular is: The French Resistance: How Resistant--Stephan Wilkinson in HISTORYNET
The Yugoslav and Greek partisans may well have been far more ferocious than the French.
Do you live in FL? If so, did you vote for Andrew Gillum over DeSantis? Whatever baggage you think DeSantis is carrying, Gillum's trunk is filled to the brim and spilling over.

Oh man josephg® ... you can get away with some attempts to conflate DeSantis' mildly pointed opinions into something reminiscent of a Mussolini speech, but when you mentioned Buttigieg as one of your few 'good' presidential candidates, you threw what remained of your credibility away.
Buttigieg is arguably the worst Transportation Secretary in USA history. His programs reflect profound ignorance about how economies function.
Just because he is great at virtue signaling (i.e., 'breast' feeding his husband's adopted baby), his decision to ignore last year's trucking / ports crises by taking paternity leave palpably demonstrates his lack of priorities. It's almost like Buttigieg went to his Delaware beach home to hide from the public during the Afghan crisis in Sept. 2021 ... never mind, that was some other disgraced fool.

and won.
The media is so one sided and toxic, the Republicans should never nominate a candidate again that can't stand up to the press. They will treat you great, until the second you win the nomination.
The press will never treat a Republican fairly. They destroyed Bush, Romney and Trump. They will do it to the next pub nomination as well. It could even be a Dem like Tulsi or Manchin and they would obliterate them if they were the pub winner.

The real question we need to be asking about DeSantis
Mar 3, 2022, 10:38 AM
|
|
If he gets the nomination, will Trumpies..
-Fly DeSantis flags instead of American ones because they once again want to worship a person instead of supporting what our nation stands for? -Will there be boat parades?! -Will they celebrate the thought of violence against "libs" (remember, anyone who doesn't worship him will be a "lib") and journalists in DeSantis's name? -Will they go on and on how he's a great Christian and sent from God to save us? -Will they litter their trucks with his stickers and wear DeSantis gear well past the election?
I need to know if they're willing to switch their blind, downright creepy worship of Trump to DeSantis.

You're kidding yourself. Lefties are definitely the car sticker and sign people. Obama supporters were crying when Obama won. Chris Matthews said it made his legs tingle when he heard Obama speak. So yeah, there was a ton of Obama worship.

Ever fly an Obama flag, where some stupid hat with his slogan on it, or have creepy boat parades during his presidency. I've never seen the level of worship for any president in my lifetime than I did for Trump.

They're comparable. Obama has been out of office for a while, but if he promoted a rally, it would be packed.

Good question

Is that what we're debating now? How wealthy former presidents are? Like, that's an actual thing to argue about?
Again, I ask, is Obama holding these kind of rallies? Is he getting this kind of fervor from blind supporters still?

Having a boat parade does absolutely nothing to oppose the federal government.
It was worship of a man who was... wait for it... chief executive of the federal government.

is that he is extremely smart and capable, but has to pander to the mouth breathers if he wants a shot at the Whitehouse. I imagine this has to be a terrible position for your party to be in because I know DeSantis is better than this and I can say in all honesty that if he would knock off the knuckle dragging horsesh>it he could be a pretty good candidate.
