Defensive End Recruiting

Apr 11, 2022, 1:03 PM

Last week there was a certain poster stating that Clemson can no longer sign elite players because of NIL money. This particular thread was about Defensive Ends. I asked him several times on two different threads that if he knew so much about recruiting to name me the 6'4" 275Lb DE that IMO is ours to lose. Of course he never answered.

That player is Vic Burley out of Warner Robbins, GA. I don't think he commits until later on down the road to get all his visits in.

However after this past weekend we will definitely sign 6'4" 240Lb David Ojiegbe, out of Washington DC. The staff will probably take a 3rd DE and will be able to be picky with that take.

I have a feeling within the next month or maybe even weeks we're going to see a momentum of commits. The power of the paw is still here and the recruiting skills of Coach Dabo Swinney is as good as ever.

***Edit*** right after posting this I see that another site just posted an article claiming we will be getting David Ojiegbe.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

David Ojiegbe is not elite like XT, Brian B or Myles Murphy. Burley is elite but you can be sure our NIL is kicking in else he would not be so high on the tigers.

Do you make excuses for everything and how do you know D.O. isn't elite? What's your coaching or scouting credentials? Burley is high on Clemson thanks to Nick Eason.

Quick assessment on Ojigebe…

Pluses:
- speed is off the charts - he looks like a legitimate 4.4 guy
- twitch to match that foot speed
- doesn’t give up on plays

Minuses:
- very raw - hasn’t learned to use his hands at all
- lacking bulk and strength to hold an anchor as de - can be controlled and swallowed up
- lateral agility and bend aren’t elite right now

Overall: could be a very good pickup with some freakish traits, but has a lot of work to do to get there. High-upside, high-reward player.

Yea…Typical response when you’ve been made a fool of. Silence.
