He had a Clemson offer, but we haven't been involved in quite a while. If he'd shown a little more early interest, we might have stayed on him, but he ruled us out early on.

Not always, but almost always.
My lifelong contention having grown up close to college football in SC is that these decisions are largely made when the guys are born, or shortly thereafter.
If a player grew up in SC, they have formed a preference way before their senior year in high school.
As I say, this is not always true, but very nearly always.

this kid is 6=4 weighs 320 and wears a size 22 shoe. I hate we missed on a big instate o lineman. he is supposed to be a good athlete and kid.

I dont think our paying more attention would have mattered. He has been locked in on the coots since he was in the 10th grade. From a positive perspective, it does look like the 2015 kids and beyond are beginning to lean our way again. It will be nice to have in state kids begin to consider us again.
