I remember those Navy's. Navy was used in football too in the 80's in the uni stripes and trim. I always thought it was the influence of that Danny Ford Navy Windbreaker he wore on the sidelines. Pretty sure Navy was never an official school color. It was always Orange and Purple. Seems like Kenny Hatfield brought Purple back in a big way in the early 90's with purple jerseys.

I like to wear it, but for sports uniforms, too many other teams wear orange and navy. Purple is pretty unique to pair with orange and it’s just another thing that makes Clemson special.

Asked about Davis and his defense, effort and rebounding prowess, Smith replied if he could have any player in the ACC not already on the Heels, it would be Dale Davis. A nice compliment.
