Dabo knows how bad

Nov 29, 2022, 7:18 PM

these WR’s really are. Throwing Cade into a starting position right now could really damage his confidence going forward. Coaching staff is letting DJ play this out, hoping the WR’s get significantly better next year. IMO this is the only thing that makes sense with this offense today!

There are things an offense can do to manage having no passing game, we are just not doing any of them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You mean, like, running???

Nov 29, 2022, 8:59 PM

Have you looked at the stats?

We DOMINATED in the running game. That's what you do when you can't pass well

If we could have just had 50% passing, then we would have had more scoring drives, kept them off the field, and ultimately blown them out.

Don't think that's it at all.

So you're saying play the lesser QB because the Wr aren't ready for Cade's talent? Interesting see

You guys have a better theory? DJ is not the BIGGEST problem with this offense. Tom Brady couldn’t make this WR group any better! No speed, no separation, no blocking, no 50/50 balls, and injuries.

That's hilarious. That you Deptoola?***

Did you ever think that an accurate-throwing QB

Nov 29, 2022, 7:37 PM

Actually makes WRs “Better”?

Point for such "outside the box" thinking. ?

Lucky Johnson

It just doesn't seem to resonate with some folks.

Your simple logic is somehow lost on some of these dudes.

Of course a more accurate QB with better quickness and basic fundamentals would make the WRs look better. That's not debatable yet some try.

Everyone should watch the 2020 Notre Dame game. Rewatching it, my perception of DJs is shifting.

A kid playing like this doesn’t just lose his ability over night. It’s mental, it’s the weight of everything involved with his family, the NIL, being the QB at a top program, internalizing the words of every critic, being unable to lift his teammates up.

Anyone watching the 2020 game would think by time DJ was a junior he would dominate the sport and lift any scrub up. He hasn’t happened. With it has gone his NFL future. Would he have personally been better off leaving last year? Most likely. He didn’t.

This isn’t a feel sorry for DJ post. It’s a what could have been post. Will never know the true story until Big Dave reveals all in an ESPN 40 for 40 which might one day happen.

It really is hard to believe that is the same kid. Quick releases, accurate throws. Watching him move now, if I did not know better I would think he has had a stroke.

I have seen the same thing as well. Mentally DJs in the game and then something happens and his brain just leaves the game. It’s unreal the inconsistency. Rattler is the same way as well.

Obvious from that is the play calling and moving the pocket was much better
He got lazy and fat last year. If you watch his footwork in that ND game, you know the result of the play. He relies on arm strength and doesn’t move his hips or feet anymore.
Many of the bad passes in the ND game that had bad footwork, are the exact same throws he made Saturday

I'm not a huge portal guy...but think you gotta use it when the need arises...like BAMA does. With the proper gets (1 or 2), assuming Randall gets completely healed up and AW continues to ascend, assuming Turner is who Dabo says he is...and Beaux becoming a more complete WR...the WR Room "could" make a 180 relatively quickly.

Unfortunately, Beaux is now out for the remainder of this season. Hopefully, his surgery goes very well.

Re: talk of confidence and kid glove treatment of players

Nov 29, 2022, 11:03 PM

All the talk of confidence issues and kid glove treatment of players is only Dabo gaslighting the fans. Dabo is feeling a lot of heat these days and it is all of his own doing. Dabo has become a youth pastor and has forgotten that he is a coach 1st - he earns $1 million for each game. The friends and family program is a recipe for failure every time. Any truth to the NCAA snooping about? Is this why sweet Dabo has become grumpy Dabo? We've all seen this play out before - it can get ugly real quick.

Why not switch to more 2 TE sets? We got 2 good pass catching tight ends, outstanding RBs, and a good WR in Antonio Williams to line up outside. Just a suggestion but why not coach to our strengths?
