Curious if anyone else had a similar observation re: crowd

involvement/noise in Death Valley this past season. I thought that our crowd responded much better to the band in terms of making noise than it did the sound system. It's almost like there was a better chemistry between the two. The band would start to play its usual notes that it plays when we were on defense and our crowd would start to yell WHILE the band was playing. So that when the band stopped and the other team was lining up to call the play the crowd was cranked up pretty good. With the sound system it seems like the crowd just is quiet when things are being played over the speakers. By the time that stops, the crowd is just starting to cheer and never seems to get as loud when the other team is lining up to call the play.
Did anyone else notice this, or was it just perhaps my imagination?

The constant band playing between plays is just annoying.

How does standing make it louder? Some people have health issues and can’t stand for long periods of time.

If I had said standing made things loud, I would elaborate.

Nope. That is why we have seats. If you were supposed to stand the entire game, there would not be seats, there would be footprints to stand on.

There are seats at home in front of the TV and you don't have to stand if you stay home!

I flew back to Clemson last October to attend my first football game in four years. I got to actually see only about half of it. Had to watch the other half on the new big screen, at the other end of the stadium, when a number of folks in front of me constantly kept standing up, even when the play was happening right in front of us. Disappointing.

When I'm at a Clemson game, I give my all for Clemson. That involves standing and yelling when Clemson is on defense.

AT A FOOTBALL GAME...AN OUTSIDE FOOTBALL GAME!
Maybe I should use my inside voice while I'm outside. IDK what to do anymore. Some people have lost their dang minds.

One of the best parts of college football is the atmosphere and that atmosphere is largely made up of the band playing during games. Just my opinion.

We thought the sound system was just too much. Distracting. The band is a different and welcome dynamic.

priced out. From my observation this past season, only 1 out of every 10 people actually made any noise when Clemson was on defense. Attending a game in Death Valley has become very expensive and the majority of people who can afford to go aren't there to yell and raise hell for opponents.
Just my observations.

the band. The home schedule didn't help much as the crowd was never in a fever pitch...mainly worried consternation over the QB play (or at least that was me)... The music never captured the emotion of the crowd, nor the players. Gotta have that sweet spot mix of up to date rap/hip-hop AND some old-school jams.
Alot of posts on here complain about fans standing...we need MORE standing than less. Jump around some and holler!! I am no spring chicken, but until I can't make it to my seats because of my stupid left knee, then I hope to keep standing....it's only proper!
GO TIGERS!

Right there with Tigerdrummer and Smitty. Fans standing and yelling when the defense is on the field is what creates the stadium “atmosphere “ we are known for. We were notorious for this when I was a student in the 80s and it is part of Clemson football tradition. I’m right on the aisle in Section C and everyone who regularly sits near me knows I’m going to be standing and loud. Some of the seats around us have different people in them each game and we have had people there that were unhappy because we were standing. We usually don’t worry about them because they probably won’t be back the next game.
I do agree the music over the loudspeakers is so loud a lot of people won’t try to yell while it is playing. Seems like some people won’t yell while the band is playing either, because they think they can’t be heard over the band and when the band stops right before the snap the noise level drops. I like the band playing a little between plays to get the crowd started but think they should stop a little earlier so the crowd will take over and be loud up to and beyond the snap.

When I go, I try to get handicap seating but very rarely get it and I can’t stand because of my knees. Hopefully that will be corrected by next season. I stand as long as I can but have to sit down some or I won’t be able to walk. Some people don’t understand that. Usually just one game a year as it is 850 miles one way and try to make the Military Appreciation Day.

50 year season ticket holder here. I love the band, but they just can’t compete with modern sound/ video systems like we now have. If they would just break tradition and amplify their volume a bit that would help.
