COVID is way, way, way overhyped fear ####

Sep 2, 2021, 12:51 PM

Til this day, I just don’t understand how anyone can be susceptible to the fear! It boggles the mind. Just think if we felt this way about cancer, flu deaths, inner city shooting deaths, heart disease, car deaths, drug deaths…. ??

Those make Covid look like child’s play!

You can do something smart and easy to avoid catching Covid-19. The others not so easily.

My God the ignorance!

Sep 2, 2021, 5:12 PM

Every year in America by far the biggest killer is heart attack, heart disease, heart failure, stroke, and cancer. 80% of the people dying from Covid have metabolic syndrome, which includes obesity and diabetes as well as high blood pressure. All of these things are caused by your diet and lifestyle!

Had Covid hit 40 or 50 years ago very few people would be dying. Watch videos of American bandstand or soul train from the 70s and 80s and look at how skinny everyone was.

Let a couple of doctors explain it to you.

I have type 1 diabetes that I got when I was 12. I was very thin and athletic. I played 4 sports a year. Type 2 diabetes is from genetics and/or obesity. Don’t throw me in that group!

But type one is nowhere near as common as type two.

Sep 2, 2021, 6:55 PM

We are in fact having a global diabetes epidemic because of diet and lifestyle. They used to think obesity caused diabetes, but that has been disproven. Diabetes and obesity are being caused by the same thing. Sugar, carbohydrates, processed foods, seed oil‘s, HFCS, and other diet and lifestyle implications. It’s called metabolic syndrome and it includes obesity, Tyoe-2 diabetes, High blood pressure, and a few other things.

Other than old people these folks are at the highest risk for Covid. This is also causing the numbers 1 & 2 killers in America every year: heart disease and cancer. Both are largely diet and lifestyle creations.

Low Country Tiger,
You are not exactly correct. Metabolic Syndrome is a condition in which you have about five factors chronically out of balance. They include blood sugar, blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and girth. Just because you are diabetic doesn’t mean your blood sugar is out of control. Many diabetics maintain good glucose control. Just because you are over weight does not mean you have all the other factors. Diet and lifestyle changes will improve these factors but don’t lump everyone together based on one or two conditions. You have no idea how those are being managed. Neither does a person need to become very fit to improve this scenario as small changes make big improvements. Quit slamming people because you don’t represent the facts very well.

I mean, something is filling up SC hospitals and exhausting their staffs, yes? Yes, I know RSV is out there as well, but if you really are of the belief that COVID is "overhyped" then you are living in a fog, man. Just look at the daily stats the hospitals are providing...Look at the presser the docs did yesterday in Charleston. What more do you need to believe that C19 is a really serious problem?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is a serious health problem. You’re missing the point.

Sep 2, 2021, 5:34 PM

Lockdowns don’t work. Masks are only marginally effective. Dr. Fauci in 2017 at a symposium about the1918 Spanish flu said vaccines are ineffective at stopping or preventing flu like viruses.

More kids under the age of 25 die every year from the common flu than are dying from Covid.

Covid isn’t killing healthy people. Covid clearly targets certain people.

There have been numerous viruses over the last 20 years more deadly than Covid. We didn’t freak out over those.

Covid is highly contagious. Covid is very dangerous for people with certain risk factors. But Covid is not extremely deadly. Not for healthy people. Not for young people.

Why is it so hard for you people to understand this?

Go online and look at the CDC data which is broken down by age, race, sex, etc. and you can find it by state and county. It’s very easy to do basic statistical analysis of the data from the CDC.

Here is my question to you and people like you. What is your solution? Please tell us the way to stop and prevent Covid.

You try so hard to sound like you know what you're talking about. Quoting quacks on Facebook. Cause you know, that's where reputable doctors go to spread their wisdom. And the way you twist stats out of context to prove your already set beliefs. Good stuff. Explaining science to you is probably like trying to tell a person in the 1st century about the earth rotating around sun. Oh, and that's really my thumb, I didn't get your nose.

Of all the changes in college football over the last few years

Sep 2, 2021, 5:37 PM

Covid has had the most impact.

Why do you think people are talking about Covid so much on a football board? Because it is having a massive impact on colleges and universities and on sports at every level.

Just go look at the front page of TNet. Numerous stories about Covid.
