I think that ship has sailed. Sponsors pressured them to change the name and it’s doubtful that they’ll budge off their stance.

care less about football tradition and its their mission to upend anything that they can get their grubby hands on. Especially things that will get them national attention. The NFL brings in alot of viewership so everyone will recognize when a traditional football name gets reverse simply in the name of political activism. Its what they do, and get paid to do. And we all allow it by giving them a spot in our gov't. They aint' going anywhere until people stop giving them the power they desire.

First, as a Jack Kent Cooke era fan, Snyder should be tossed into the Potomac with pork-barrel shoes. he makes politicians look ethical.
The 'Skins name had sailed. You can't walk back the name that is truly derisive slang into something. Just move on. With Snyder at the table, you might as well nixed "work with" as an option. We are lucky he did not get the name "Generals" with a picture of "Custer and Jackson" on the logo.
Washington Football Team worked better. Who needs "a name". Commanders are only a slightly less offensive name than the product on the field. Just call it Washington Dannybois and let them finish 4-12 like God intended.

In the early 90's I had the opportunity to be at a meeting with Jack Kent Cooke about building anew stadium to replace RFK. There were about as dozen of us in the meeting and the plan was to build the new stadium at the same location as RFK. However, he wanted to look at some alternative sites min Virginia and Maryland. He told us point blank that he was going to have to grease Marion Barry's palm (mayor of Washington) to the tune of one million dollars to get the stadium built in DC. Cooke did not say it was a campaign contribution or other type of donation, but I had the strong impression that it was merely kick back to get the stadium approved. Apparently Barry did not get the cash and the stadium was built elsewhere.

Are they still kicking out fans that wear their old Redskins attire to the games?
